Sgt. Brian Robinson, 47, of Gloucester Town****p, was charged with
aggravated
***ual assault, a first-degree crime, aggravated assault, and two counts
of
endangering the welfare of a child.
He has served on the Cherry Hill police force for 18 years.
Cherry Hill police officials wouldn't speak on camera.
But some officers off camera said many at the department were surprised by
the ***ual assault charges leveled against one of their own.
Robinson is accused of ***ually assaulting the teen in Lindenwold and
Gloucester Town****p locations over the past three years, authorities said.
They said the most recent incident occurred about a month ago. An
acquaintance of the victim contacted authorities on March 14. Robinson was
arrested and charged on March 15.
"He's a fine officer, got great reputation except for this smear," Ron
Helmer, Robinson's attorney, said.
Helmer said he has strong evidence that proves his client's innocence but
he
wouldn't go into detail.
"He absolutely as from the first minute has maintained his innocence and
he
looks forward to being vindicated as soon as possible," Helmer said.
The incidents remain under investigation.
Robinson was taken to the Camden County Jail and was released on $100,000
bail. He is currently suspended with pay from the Cherry Hill Police
Department pending the outcome of the investigation.
Anyone with more information is urged to contact Camden County
Prosecutor's
Office Sgt. Janet Jordan at 856-225-8400.
