On the morning of September 11, 2001, there were $167 billion
dollars in gold bars in Federal Reserve vaults in the basement
of the World Trade Center.

According to Wikipedia, one of the world’s largest gold depositories
was stored underneath the World Trade Center.  In 1993 the value
of the gold was estimated at one billion dollars, rumored to be owned
by Kuwaiti interests.
