What really, did Valerie Plame do?

by "Neil" <paradoxer@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Oct 5, 2003 at 04:24 PM

To clear up the whole issue of whether Ms. Plame was merely an "analyst",
or
something deeper: Representative Jane Harman (D-CA), Ranking Minority
Member US
House Intelligence Subcommittee on Terrorism & Homeland Security, said
today
(Face the Nation) that Ms. Plame was a "NOC," or under non-official cover.
Chuck
Hagel (R-NE) had no disagreement with that. That means she is really
covert, and
not a mere "analyst," like an acquaintance of mine who openly says he is
an
analyst for the CIA on the overt weapons trade. Furthermore, a cor****ation
that
was a cover for her was exposed, making it all worse. Finally, she worked
with
tracing WMD, which means she and her contacts really would be in real
physical
danger from terrorists and hostile states. (It would be interesting to get
her
comments on David Kay's re****t, but Wilson says she is avoiding the
press.)

However, let's cut to the chase about her whole identity before the leak:
Plame
must have had some sort of overt pretense in any case, whatever else
covert may
have been going on. Unless she said, "I'm a housewife." she must have
represented herself as doing something, as having an identity to answer
the
question, "What do you do?" So I wonder, what was that overt
representation to
friends, family, bank, doctors, insurance companies, the IRS, etc? I
expect the
latest issue of _Time_ to mention it, since the cover story is the leak.
