First of all, let me start by being up front and admitting that I’m the
publisher of a book by the author of this site, so obviously, I am hoping
to drive some book sales by steering readers in that direction. On the
other hand, anyone who knows anything about ‘small press’ realizes
that
nobody is getting rich in this business, and most of us publish books in
which we truly believe. This is the case here.
In "A Heritage of Hypicrisy—Why ‘THEY’ HateUs," author
Holliston Perni
takes a position that is neither liberal nor conservative, neither right
nor left; he simply steps back and analyzes the historical behavior of the
United States compared to the rhetoric we’re so fond of using to
characterize ourselves. The result is a clear, demonstrable, broad
dichotomy between what we believe about ourselves, and a reality that is
visible to virtually every one else in the world.
At his site (http://www/AmericanJunta.com),
Perni goes a step
further,
convincingly demonstrating that the entrenched ‘Republicrat’ ruling
structure repeatedly and brazenly leads this country into imbroglios that
are clearly at odds with the desires, interests, and self-image of their
constituencies, and contrary to the constitution itself. Indeed, having
discussed the issues at length with representatives of both the right and
the left, it has been my experience that honest thinkers on both poles
often agree on a surprising number of topics, and usually oppose what has
been perpetrated by a government that no longer even makes a pretext of
representing the American people. Hence, the 'Republicrats', backed as
they
are by the military and commerical interests, is in every sense an
invading
Junta. Indeed, in Perni's estimation, the legitimate constitutional
government of the United States has long ago been overthrown in an
insidious coup d'etat.
The problem, according to Perni, is that the two parties have
become so
entrenched, and their money channels to big business so solidified, that
no
honest politician can any longer rise through the ranks of power if they
do
not regularly vote the dictates of the party (which, in virtually every
case, serves interests other than those of the populace). Take, for
example
the deplorable case of Senator George V. Voinovich, who stood up for his
beliefs by pleading—pleading to the point of tears—that he so deeply
opposed the appointment of John Bolton as UN Ambassador, and then voted in
favor of sending the Appointment to the full Senate, thereby proving
himself a thrall of the party structure, and providing Perni’s perfect
example for the word ‘hypocrite’.
“Something of immense significance has occurred right before our
eyes,”
Perni writes, “so note and consider it well. This man has come forward,
and in plain view, demonstrated that he is voting the will of his party,
not his conscience, nor the will of his constituency. This is what the
2-party ‘Republicrat’-dominated government has become.”
Perni’s point is that there is nothing honorable, patriotic, or
idealistic—right or left—about being duped by a cynical, manipulative,
self-serving government.
I think that, agree, or disagree, most open-minded people will
find food
for thought at: http://www.AmericanJunta.com.
(And, if you find the
concepts interesting, consider picking up a copy of Perni’s book: A
Heritage of Hypocrisy—Why ‘THEY’ HateUs.)
