      Please explain.    I am aware that 120 volts DC is quite
dangerous, moreso than 120 volts AC, because the AC causes the
muscles to contract and let go, while the DC can just cause
contraction, and in some cases, cause an inability to let go,
unless that is an outhouse rumor.

     AFAIK, 48 volts doesn't have that problem, the only issue
with 48 volts is the wire needs to be heavier than for 120 volts.


     The amps x volts = watts is without reason, at 746 watts per
horsepower, and horsepower can be equated to torque sometimes,
and that motor has good torque for the price.

     If I were going to go into the conversion business, I would
try to put one connected to each wheel on FWD cars with sprague
clutches and try to get sensors and software control to bring
the RPM of each up smoothly.
     There is no doubt an issue with steering on FWD, so it is
possible that a separate motor for each front wheel is beyond
what can be done, I hope not, and I think there are vehicles
that have a motor for each of all four wheels, some right in
the wheel itself.

     On Electric or Internal Combustion vehicles, the smaller
the motor for the load, the better, so multiple motors could
offer efficiencies, even multiple motor-generator sets.
     I think the Prius has two electric motors and one ICE,
with one of the motors acting as a generator when immediate
power is not needed for acceleration.

     The market is ready for any workable EV conversion to
all electric, and Plug-in Electric Vehicles with auxiliary
generators will become the norm, with absolute certainty.

     Getting the bigger ICE out of the car and eliminating the
grille is the logical way to reduce wind drag.
     And multiple aux generators provides unheard of redundancy,
lower cost due to mass production of smaller units, and a fuel
savings on level ground, the only time both would need to run is
on long hills.


     Most of the motors with enough torque, that I have seen
advertised were priced at more than $2000, while this one was $750.

     It seems big enough for the small cars as long as they don't
go on freeways, for a long time Electric Vehicles can be second cars 
for shopping and driving to work, a range of 60 miles is the maximum
needed range, and if employers provide the outlets, could be charged
at work too, but is good for the grid to only plan to charge in
off peak hours.


     Also, having a motor like this competitively priced is sure to
stimulate the market with more and better low cost motors.

     DC, even low voltage DC, at large amps presents special problems
with fuses or other disconnects, arcing under heavy load can be very
destructive and possibly dangerous.
     Higher voltage systems will need some kind of interlocks to try
to prevent safety issues from being a major problem.
