I suspect that influential Jews dedicated to Israel did indeed want
either Obama or Hillary to be the democratic nominee on the theory
that America would not vote in a woman or a black man. The strategy
was to steer the general election to war-happy, military-minded McCain
to assure the United States would continue to attack Israel's enemies
in the middle east. But they may have shot themselves in the foot:
Obama is turning out to be a formidable candidate--and he's not so
hopelessly enamored with Israel like Bush or McCain.
While Obama has announced his belief that the United States should
continue sup****ting Israel, he is decidedly anti-war in the middle
east. Obama would open talks with Iran, withdraw occupation troops in
Iraq, and reduce the military presence in Afghanistan.
That's not what the Jews want. Israel-dedicated American Jews want a
divided Iraq and a devastated Iran, a severely weakened Syria, and an
isolated Lebanon. Israel wants an oil pipeline from Iraq to Israel's
Haifa refinery. American Jews want Israel to cover all of Palestine,
part of Syria and Lebanon and rule as the dominant force in the middle
east. Obama as president would be the monkey wrench thrown into that
well-oiled Israel machine.
It may turn out that American Jews, thinking Obama would serve as a
safe diversion in the election, have inadvertently financed the advent
of a president who will stop the Israeli expansion in its tracks. If
it happens, Israel will then be left with its standard solution to
problematic opponents in foreign affairs: assassination.
