If we drilled there, we would not get the oil. It would belong to the
companies who paid the lease, and it would be sold on the open market,
as is all other oil, except for our strategic reserves. The
unexploited oil in the US amounts to about 1.2% of all the known world
reserves. What would happen to the price of oil if we started
producing our untapped reserves? Almost nothing, based on supply and
demand.
