McCain gives a speech outlining what he hopes to achieve in his first term
and the press takes the occasion to distort. Here's how.
First, the misleading headline:
"McCain believes Iraq war can be won by 2013"
The clear implication here is that McCain is saying that we would be at
war
until 2013. That's a LIE.
"COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Republican John McCain declared for the first time
Thursday he believes the Iraq war can be won by 2013, although he rejected
suggestions that his talk of a timetable put him on the same side as
Democrats clamoring for full-scale troop withdrawals."
He didn't "talk of a timetable." Believing that we can win the war in his
first term is not a timetable for withdrawal. That's ludicrous, and
another
LIE.
"In the primary campaign, McCain had criticized former Republican rival
Mitt
Romney for hinting at a timetable."
So ****ing what? Believing you can win the war in your first term is not a
timetable for withdrawal. Again, a LIE.
