That is actually a rational answer.  I do not think it adequate but it is

Am an 63.  I was there and almost full grown. (25 years old in 1970)

While it is true that the larger autos are "history", demand has not
increased as much as production capacity and was not projected to do so 2
years ago. The current prices cannot be explained away as demand driven at
all.
