Ronald Reagan is responsible for the term neocon. I dont think he was the
first. But the term was coined for him.
neo = new
con = conservative

Reagan was a liberal democrat, he switch to conservative republican,
Therefore he was coined as a neocon i.e. new to conservatism - a new
conservative - a neocon.
At the time Reagan first ran for president. America was in the middle of a
hostage crisis i.e. Iran was holding Americans hostage. Jimmy Carter had
negotiated for the release of the hostages, after a failed black op.

to rescue them. It took a long time, but Carter did negotiate their
release.
However, Ronald Reagan with the help of his running mate, X head of the
CIA
George H.W. Bush, made a backdoor deal with Iran, to not release the
hostages until after the election and they would sale Iran weapons.
Because
Iran at the time was being invaded by Iraq. So Iran didnt release the
hostages until after the election. Had Iran released them like was agreed
upon with Carter, then Carter would have been seen as the hero, and he
would
have most likely been reelected. This whole ordeal was made public during
the Iran Contra scandal- hearings.
Reagan was the one that realized the christian conservatives can bring in
many votes. By Reagan hooking up with many evangelicals, almost over night
we witnessed in the south, whom were predominately democrats, switch to
republican conservatives, and the US was swept into a whole army of
neocons
like we never saw before. Thousands of americans made the switch from
democrat to republican, because of Reagan intertwining the separation of
church and state.
Reagan also brought us the war on drugs. While his VP Bush allowed the
continuation of CIA drug smuggling into america. It was all smoke and
mirrors.
And here is a little something on what many today are praising Ron Paul
about, for his stance on Reagan and Lebanon.
People thinking Ronald Reagan is some kind of hero for bringing our troops
home from Lebanon. That was a big lie! Let me tell you what really
happened
in Lebanon, when Israel first invaded Lebanon in 1982 (and never left- see
the sheba farmland).
Reagan sent in troops to be peace keepers, along side of the UN. But peace
keeping is not what we did at all. Hezbollah came into being because they
were fighting against Israel's invasion. If a forieghn country like Israel
invades your country, you have every right to defend your country from the
invasion. So Reagan sends in our troops, and what do our troops do? They
began to attack and kill the Lebanese(Hezbollah), the very ones they are
supposed to be protecting from Israel's invasion. Reagan didnt send in
troops to protect anyone. Reagan sent in troops to help the Israelis kill
Lebanese, and they did. Hezbollah fought back by truck bombing our troops
killing 241 marines. We got our ass kicked, and we came home with our tail
between our legs, and allowed Israel to continue murdering innocent men,
women, and children. There is nothing to be proud about that. We attacked
Hezbollah who were defending their own country, and Hezbollah fought back
and won!
