I know how you feel. I was raised Catholic. A few years ago I was in a
spiritual crisis of sorts so I went to see a priest. But it was like he
didn't have time to talk to me. He gave me the brush off and it was hard
to
contact him after that. I was very disappointed. The church I go to now I
can get a response from my pastor but that could take some time since he's
pretty busy himself. But I go to the Bible study that he runs and so I get
what I need from those studies. But I find that the people I met in the
church, such as the old pastor (who is also a philosophy professor at our
local community college). He always gets back to my e-mail and within a
decent time interval.

The Catholic Church I used to go to had a food pantry. Do a search on your
area for food pantries and you should find several of them. Most, if not
all, are at churches. I've been disabled for a long time and living on
disbility does not a rich man make! :) So I've used several of the food
pantries in the area. I'm also a Vet so I can go to the VA resources in my
town and they will have a food pantry somewhere. All you need to know is
where it is and when you can use it. All these food pantries have certain
times that you can use them.

You can be Catholic and go to a Protestant church you know. Nobody will
ask
you to leave and the basic differences between the churches probably will
never get in the way. At least go talk to them and explain yopur position.
Start with your own church, make an appointment with one of the priests
there and I'm sure something good will come out of it.
Best wishes
Pete
