While a food crisis is inevitable in an
ever expanding population, This one
was precipitated largely by Bushes ethanol
subsidies for ethanol produced from food crops.
This was done ostensibly to battle global warming
despite the fact that it requires almost
as much oil to produce ethanol from food
crops as it saves.

Archer Daniels midlands, the US's largest
ethanol producer is making windfall profits and
is building a new coal fired generating station
to aid in ethanol distillation.
