In as many years as we have been working on alternative energy, none has 
come close to the power of oil.  Some have been able to use natural 
resources such as wind and water, but not all are so fortunate to have 
these resources nearby.  Solar and ethanol have turned out to be a flop.  
And the electric car thrilled very few.  When you say "develop energy 
alternatives" you say that as if we weren't working on that all along.

Living in the past is exactly what public trans****tation was.  Going to 
sleep cold in winter and hot as hell in the summertime is certainly a 
thing of the past as well.  People don't want to go back to those days.
