It's precisely so. We're going to be forced off oil no matter what.
The supply simply won't be able to match demand based on current per
capita consumption rates. It's already having an effect. Just a few
years ago there were two commercial hybrid vehicles for sale. Now
there are well over a dozen. Growing demand from Asia and the falling
dollar will force us to either dramatically reshape our society and
lifestyles or find energy somewhere else to maintain them. My
position is to forge ahead into that future and face it boldly rather
than continue to pretend it doesn't matter yet.
This isn't the seventies, it's the 21st century and oil will never be
cheap again.
