Air Force has 4~6~8 year enlistments, four years no stripes out of basic
training, 6 years gets you two stripes out of basic & more pay, 8 years
you
still get two stripes but even more pay. Officers Start out with 6/8 years

depending on if they intend to fly and what. I got an early out (medical)
after a chopper crash at Fort Bragg.

Navy has 2 "basic" year enlistments, Subs are longer 4/6/8 because of the
specialty training, harder to get a sub, but easier to get off (psychiatry

plays a BIG part). Subs go down off the Virginia coast and surface near
either Holy Loch Scotland or Gibraltar. Or leave San Diego go up around
Alaska and to Japan or Straight out to Hawaii, Guam, Subic Bay
Philippines.

My dad 32 years Navy, Step father 12 years Marines, Brother in law 30
years
Navy and was a recruiter for the Navy for eight years.

Army has as much as you want 2/4/6/8, my brother re-enlisted three times
and
spent four years in Korea and spent twelve years in Germany 16 years
total.

Marine Corps is much like the Army and Navy combined.
