Dear Barack Obama sup****ters,
Growing biofuels will continue to skyrocket food prices, speed global
warming, increase water shortages, erode topsoil, and never produce
substantial amounts of energy. Biofuels are the FOOL'S GOLD OF ENERGY
PRODUCTION!
I saw a lecture on TV recently by a scientist who said that he had
come up with a way to make biofuels truly "green." His idea was to
only grow biofuels on prairie land, using native plants, with no
fertilizer and no irrigation. Certainly that would be better than
growing corn for ethanol with irrigation and tons of fertilizer, but
he missed the point that it takes too long and too much energy to
convert cellulose to ethanol, and that ethanol is a lousy fuel anyway
with 1/3 less energy than gasoline. Running tractors over prairie
land year after year will cause so much erosion that the "prairie"
will soon turn into a desert as our planet heats up due to global
warming, which biofuel production will not halt. Growing native plant
biomass on non-irrigated, non-fertilized prairie land will never
produce enough energy to be worth any amount of effort, and farmers
will always try to add fertilizer and irrigation water to get more
output. The scientist was basically wasting his and our time with an
economically and pragmatically impossible idea.
This particular scientist was at least smart enough to pretty much
dismiss algae as a source of biodiesel, because his studies found that
when you isolate or genetically engineer an algae to make sufficient
amounts of oil, that it loses its ability to make new cells quickly
enough to thrive in an environment where it has to compete with
natural algae. You need open air algae ponds to grow any significant
amounts of algae as they are a biological based solar power scheme and
thus require vast amounts of area and sunlight. Native algae brought
to the open air ponds by birds and the wind will contaminate the ponds
and soon win over the gene modified algae pools; thus you will only
produce low oil content biomass algae of little use as fuel.
Biofuels are a dead end idea, and the only biofuel I could sup****t is
biodiesel made from waste cooking oil, but there is very little energy
potential in that.
We need to drill everywhere in the US that there is oil, convert coal
to diesel, convert shale to gasoline, etc., until enough nuclear power
plants can be built to make synthetic gasoline directly from
atmospheric CO2. As James Lovelock said, "nuclear power is the only
green energy" for the purpose of producing vast amounts of energy on a
very small amount of land. If we build nuclear power plants in
quantity, using prismatic block and/or pebble bed reactors, we can cut
the cost of nuclear power in half, and produce sulfur free gasoline
that sells for $2.00 a gallon at the pump. With nuclear fuel
reprocessing we can make a nuclear fission fuel scheme last for 10,000
years without adding any significant amounts of new carbon to the
atmosphere. Prismatic block and pebble bed reactors are inherently
meltdown proof, so even if their helium (not water) cooling system
fails, they will automatically ****ft down to a safe heat level without
any mechanical intervention. Barack Obama should thus be a champion
of nuclear energy if he really wants to save the planet and our
failing economy.
Biofuels are a sick joke that only makes our global situation far
worse. The current biofuel fad represents a victory of hype and
salesman****p over substance. Barack Obama is the charismatic new
biofuel con man who is continuing to cause the greatest famine in
human history. Biofuels will crowd out so much food production that
they will eventually kill more people than Mao and Pol Pot did with
their idiotic agricultural policies, and thus I tell people that
Barack Obama walks on the corpses of the people he kills through
malnutrition, not on water as many believe. Barack Obama is a science
ignorant huckster who is as wrong on biofuels as he was right about
the war in Iraq being a bad idea. His sup****ters should give him the
real news on biofuels and force him to flip-flop on the issue, which
he has proven again and again that he has the easy ability to do.
