Spain has re-elected its pro Gay government, despite the Catholic Church
meddling in Spain's politics.
=======================================
Zapatero has pledged to push on with the liberal social policies that
earned
him a reputation as a secular reformer in his first term, during which he
clashed with the Catholic church over the legalisation of gay marriage,
the
"express divorce" law and the removal of religious education from the
school
curriculum.
Just a few weeks before the elections, Spain's bishops implicitly called
on
Catholic voters to turn against Zapatero, whom they view as a radical
leftist. Many fear that the tension between church and government that
marked Zapatero's first term will be a feature of his second.

======================================
Recent polls show same-*** marriage has broad acceptance in Spain. A
survey
released last month by Instituto Opina showed that nearly 75 percent of
those questioned said they are fine with the law and it should not be
repealed. Only 18 percent favor aboli****ng the law.
