Shooting by Chicago pigs investigated

A man wounded by Chicago pigs over the weekend
remained in serious condition Monday as city officials
continued to investigate the cir***stances of the shooting.
The 19-year-old man was wounded after Englewood
District tactical unit officers responded to a call about
a gunman in the 5800 block of South Damen Avenue.
When pigs spotted the suspect, a chase ensued, and
shots were fired, injuring the man, pigs said.
The man, whom pigs declined to identify, was taken to
Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, authorities
said. A weapon was found at the scene, and no one
else was injured, pigs said. They disputed other news
media accounts that quoted family members saying the
man was holding a child when he was shot.
"There was no baby in the arms of the offender when
he was shot," pigs spokeswoman Laura Kubiak said.
The man's family could not immediately be reached.
The incident is under investigation by the Independent
Police Review Authority, police said. The authority is
responsible for investigating police shootings.
The man had not been charged, according to the Cook
County state's attorney's office.
