Monday, 25 February 2008 (NWBC 349) Heroin from Afghanistan to a "free
Kosovo"
2008-02-25, 17:38 GMT:
The information headlined here comes from the mainly Swedish-language
mailing
list "afghanistan_ockuperat" at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/afghanistan_ockuperat,
managed by the
organization Föreningen Afghansolidaritet, of which I'm a member. (Website
at
http://www.afghanistan.nu/.)
A message to that list, which I shall also
quote
in full, among other things refers, via
http://fredskoalitionen.blogspot.com,
to a re****t on 10.02 by the Russian governmental "TV Channel One", which I
judge to be more likely true than false and which said i.a.,
[QUOTE:]
...."The local authorities draw up seriously forged lists in which an
amount is
recorded for the amount destroyed and, in fact, the crop has not been
destroyed
at all. The theft of the money to combat narcotics is going on and is
flouri****ng," he [referring to Geydar Dzhemal - see below] said.
The accusation that US forces are involved in drug-trafficking came from
Geydar
Dzhemal, chairman of the Islamic Committee of Russia. "Without the control
and
connivance on the part of the special services none of these things are
possible.
For example in Afghanistan, the CIA and the special services are quite
brazen.
Under the protection of the American army they meet the necessary people.
They
collect the stuff, go to the Bagram airbase and they hand in a large
consignment of narcotics, which is then taken away," he said.
[The next paragraph is by Craig Murray:]
My knowledge of all this comes from my time as British Ambassador in
Uzbekistan. I ... watched the Jeeps ... bringing the heroin through from
Afghanistan, en route to Europe. I watched the tankers of chemicals
roaring
into Afghanistan. The four largest players in the heroin business are all
senior members of the Afghan government – the government that our soldiers
are
fighting and dying to protect.
Craig Murray / The Mail, , July 21, 2007
The re****t went on to say that heroin reached the Balkans via Turkey,
which
"has been a member of NATO since 1952 and is the USA's closest ally in the
region". It said it is "another amazing coincidence" that Kosovo hosts the
largest NATO base in Europe. The correspondent added that there is a
"secret
Interpol post" next to this base. "Here they speak almost openly about
Afghan
heroin in American planes," he noted.
A man captioned as Marko Nicovic, Interpol employee, explained that 90 per
cent
of heroin goes through the Albanian mafia, which is now more powerful than
the
Sicilian mafia. He also alleged that members of this mafia bribe European
parliamentarians to sup****t the independence of Kosovo.
[END OF QUOTE]
Concerning the production of opium poppy in Afghanistan and its connection
with
the ongoing aggression against that country, I wrote in my "UNITE! Info
#281en:
US-NATO atrocity in Afghanistan, with Swedish sup****t" (02.07.2007),
[QUOTE:]
A further aim of the US imperialists' aggression against Afghanistan - and
this
should be noted and understood everywhere too, since it of course
precisely
flies in the face of those same imperialists' much-propagandized,
pur****ted,
"war on drugs" - is to ensure and increase the production in and
ex****tation
from that country of that which, during a long time up until some six
years
ago, was its economically most im****tant product by far: Heroin, and other
similar products made out of opium-poppy.
Do the US imperialists, and/or their allies, the bourgeoisies in the other
"rich" countries, perhaps want "their own" respective people to be
"non-addicted to" such drugs, "clear-thinking" or, necessarily, "capable
of
maximum production performance"?
No, they don't. What's really im****tant to them, and more so for each year
that
p*****, is to keep those peoples (too) down, with all possible means at
their
disposal, including the most terrorist and criminal ones. And heroin (etc)
smuggling and distribution, that's one of those businesses of theirs - not
necessarily quite directly engaged in by governmental forces of theirs
themselves, but there of course are some criminal gangs, mobs, mafias
which
they have always furthered, on the sly, and which "can take care of" such
things - which they hold to be among the most im****tant ones.
The facts concerning heroin (etc) produced in and ex****ted from
Afghanistan, in
the most recent decade, are basically two. The first one, as described in
an
article in the New York Times in the spring of 2001:
"TALIBAN'S BAN ON GROWING OPIUM POPPIES IS CALLED A SUCCESS
"UNITED NATIONS, May 18 — The first American narcotics experts to go to
Afghanistan under Taliban rule have concluded that the movement's ban on
opium-poppy cultivation appears to have wiped out the world's largest crop
in
less than a year, officials said today.
The American findings confirm earlier re****ts from the United Nations drug
control program that Afghanistan, which supplied about three-quarters of
the
world's opium and most of the heroin reaching Europe, had ended poppy
planting
in one season.
....
....
Afghanistan is now under United Nations sanctions, imposed at the
insistence of
the United States because the Islamic movement will not turn over Osama
bin
Laden for trial in connection with attacks on two American Embassies in
Africa
in 1998. ..."
And the second one, for instance at a "Health-E-note" chronology website:
"2004-2005 After the fall of the Taliban government in Afghanistan in
late
2001, opium poppy production begins to soar by 2004. Street heroin becomes
purer and available in larger quantities. Prices reach a twenty-year low."
And further, in a BBC article on 25.06.2007, only a few days before the
recent
terror bombing atrocity:
"Afghan opium production 'soars'
Opium production in Afghanistan is soaring out of control, the annual UN
re****t
on illegal drugs says.
The World Drug Re****t says more than 90% of illegal opium, which is used
to
make heroin, comes from Afghanistan."
A war to promote "freedom" and "international security" in the sense of
promoting more and cheaper heroin on the streets of New York, London,
Paris,
Berlin, København, Stockholm, etc, etc, and in the sense of promising more
freedom for people, in Asia at least, from those really quite awful
substances
oil, natural gas and such things, that's the one waged by those coalition
forces so aptly called, respectively, "Operation Enduring Freedom" and
"International Security Assistance Force".

Men hur
gick
