Frenzied fans mob Bollywood stars in Netherlands
Amsterdam, June 12 (PTI): If you thought Boman Irani could walk down an
alley in Amsterdam without getting mobbed, think again, since even
character
actors attending the IIFA weekend here find it difficult to avoid legions
of
faithful fans keeping close watch on their movements.
At the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards ceremony which
ended
today, hundreds of men, women and teenagers tried to get close with the
stars, some of them even breaking through the security cordon and hugging
Shahrukh Khan while he was compering the event.
The fervour has caught on among all Indian-origin residents in the
Netherlands with even some Dutch turning curious about what's going on.
On all four days of weekend here, fans thronged pathways in front of the
Hotel Grand Krasnapolsky where the Bollywood biggies were ensconced away
from media glare, as also the city's Schipol Air****t, hoping for a glimpse
of their favourite stars.
For teenagers Sonia and Sanjana, the IIFA awards being hosted at Amsterdam
was a dream come true.
