Hindus hold protest in front of French Embassy
London, June 13 (PTI): Singing devotional songs and blowing conch-shells,
thousands of Hindus on Sunday held a demonstration in front of the French
Embassy here protesting "discrimination against Hinduism and religious
intolerance in France."
The protest was originally sparked by a French design house's range of
shoes
with the image of Lord Ram printed on them, which had led to a call for a
world-wide boycott of French goods and Air France. The company withdrew
the
offending design, but the Hindu Forum of Britain decided to go ahead with
the rally.
Ramesh Kallidai, Secretary General of the Forum said that while the
company
sent a "curt e-mail to say that they have decided to withdraw the shoe
from
sale, there has been no sign of an apology or an acknowledgement that they
made a mistake."
