I went through my Zen contradictions phase about 40 years
ago. After awhile that sort of thing becomes pretty mechanical
and no longer provides much insight or even entertainment.
I think you could have rested your case with "do nothing". Of
course, if you'd really believed in that, you wouldn't have
entered the discussion in the first place.
