Sorry, Michael.  Study your history.  The Americans were under
constant threat from the French and Indians in Canada until the French-
Indian War.  And the Americans would have had no power to resist them
without the British.  France had a professional army and a navy, the
Americans had neither.  Indeed, the Revolution itself would have
failed without French assistance against the British.
