flowers on her big day may not be.

A slump in flower sales since late last year will likely continue 
through Mother's Day, another example of Americans cutting back on 
spending due to recession fears and escalating food and gasoline prices.

Nepal arrests 560 Tibetan women

Nepalese police have arrested some 560 Tibetan women, including many 
Buddhist nuns, after breaking up demonstrations against China's 
crackdown in Tibet.

In the first example of all-women protests, three rallies in Kathmandu 
were quickly stopped by police.

Journalist facing fines urges press to protect 1st Amendment

A former USA Today re****ter facing fines for failing to reveal her 
sources for stories about the 2001 anthrax attacks said Saturday that 
news organizations need to go on the offensive in the fight to protect 
the First Amendment.

"As we all know, the news business is on a collective nervous 
breakdown," Toni Locy told a coalition of open-government and press 
groups. "It's time to stop running. It's time to turn and fight. If we 
don't fight for the First Amendment, who will?"
