Of course not. This is Islamophobia, or the irrational fear of Muslims,
and it is more effective to address it as an isolated phenomenon if you
refrain from the understandable temptation to mention that 9/11 happened,
or the dancing in the streets afterward, or the killing of Bobby Kennedy,
or the Achille Laureu, or Munich, or nearly a decade of continuous
skyjackings and kidnappings. Ignore also the recent killing of van Gogh,
and death threats against Danish cartoonists.
In curing your Islamophobia, it is also helpful to ignore that a small,
but
effective, group of Muslims appear to acting on Mohammed's warning to
Muslims against the conspriacies of Christians and Jews, and his
declaration that non-Muslim areas be the "Dar al Harb" or "world of war"
against infidels. Curing Islamophobia means ignoring things like this:
"We
will put terror into the hearts of the unbelievers." (Sura 3, verse 150)
Once you have removed these little stumbling blocks to your own personal
development, it is an easy matter to shed your fear of Muslims. Of
course,
there are a small number of Muslims who attempt to address some of the
issues I have mentioned. They are a small, harried minority who scarcely
dare make their names known for fear of being killed.
This is the situation, and it is a sad one for both sides of this slow
burning, centuries old battle between cultures and religions.
