For about the last 30 years and in a handfull of countries,gays have
enjoyed a measure of visibility and of freedom which was previously
unknown to them.The raw conclusion to draw from this,and from a few and
local past occurences of gay freedom in human history,is that such a
freedom as we know it is transitory and limited in time and space.It
will eventually vanish,as it did for example when the Roman Empire
became officially christian under Emperor Constantine.For such a
freedom is backed on the gay side by no level of political organisation
or of capacity to wield power and force in a way which would make it
perilous for the hethro side to take it away.It follows that relative
freedom such as we are experiencing it at the moment serves no purpose
in itself or for itself.It would make a sense only if it were used by
us gays in a manner which would aim at increasing it to the point that
we would become politically independent,just like the various hethro
nation-States became themselves independent over the centuries and in
order to protect their own interests.
