> "Jesse Jackson, Maxine Waters, Charles Rangel and Louis Farrakhan"
These are not public elected officials. It is hard for a racist to get
elected to the democratic party, except in the south. There are a lot
of racists elected in the republican party. Oh, they don't call
themselves racist, but they campaigh at Whites Only, Christian Only
country clubs and take the same positions on policies as racists. Yes,
being against affirmative action doesn't make you a racist, I, myself,
am against affirmative action, in most cases, but when a party, as a
whole, consistantly sides with racist viewpoints, it is hard not to
draw the obvious viewpoints. And then there are various racist
sounding comments by elected Republicans. It just goes to reinforce
the view.
One thing to remember. The south used to be very pro-Democrat. Because
of Democrat fighting of racism, the South is now very pro-Republican.
Evidently, many in the south feel that the Republican party more
closely matches their racist views.
Then, one can look at those groups that are often descriminated
against and see who they vote for. 95% of all African Americans who
voted in 2000 voted for Al Gore. 65% of Jews, the majority of
hispanics, most homo***uals. Clearly those who are discriminated
against feel that the Democrats more closely match their viewpoints.
