Electra Texas Goat Barbecue
After the Big 'Ol Goat BBQ,
and the finger-lickin' chicken and rib cookoff
comes the plundering of the nation
and the disastrous widow's pension ripoff
Y'all come on down...
Line them cookers up and get the fire hot!
Hold yer grubby paws and wait yer turn
A piece of Goat is coming off the cooker
Be sure not to let the beans burn
Y'all come on down...
Grandpa's got lotsa rattles**** Shake-n-Bake
simmerin' in some red-hot sauce
and a bowl to catch the blood
later, when we mourn the tragic loss
Set yerself down a spell..
Squirt some lighter fluid on the hot coals
Got a body bag for the whole hog
Down here, we know who we hate
and we know how to hunt like dogs
Be sure to bring the kids...
Down here, a man wearin' pants is King of his Mansion
If there's one thing Texans hate, it's sissies
When we're done gittin' control of the world
The whole damned thing will become a Rotisserie

The Texas 100: Money Becomes Electra
This is Electra's private world, an emerald sanctuary tucked
inside the biggest chunk of real estate in Texas.
Electra looks like a 79-year-old heiress should: pale skin,
erect posture, prominent nose, and a crown of golden hair whose
upkeep is the point of her weekly trip to the beauty salon in
Wichita Falls. Suddenly she brakes while a cluster of buzzards
flaps skyward, exposing a pulpish mass on the roadway.
"Nasty things," she says and drives on.

An unprecedented plan to get Texans moving on the crowded byways

The Governor is already in big trouble politically. If this

Ross Barnett closed in prayer his heavy-lidded buzzard eyes and
sucked swamp air inside his lungs to savor the fragrance of loss.
On top of each light post, high above the street, perched a
buzzard, many buzzards, one right after another, post by post,
down the road, as far as you could see, to the railroad tracks,
an enormous flock that slept at night in a cypress swamp not far
away... The big birds were slick and black with rainwater where
they sat with hunched shoulders and wattled necks like sad old
men in dark coats.
The birds were descendants and remnants of an ancient flock,
attracted here long ago by the corpse-stench of a Civil War
battle.
The whole description of the younger birds with dim, blood
memories of the "Festival of Dead Rebels", is again the bird
gorgings made glorious by a name
"Death (A Play)", examines in an existential setting (or the
satire of one); a man (Kleinman) awakened at 2:30 am by a group
of men he knows, to hunt a "maniac", only no one will let him in
on the plan. Not only is he left clueless, he is totally
unaware of the rash of murders which has the others out acting
as vigilantes
As a matter of fact, he is the vehicle by which Woody Allen
satirizes the genre of the theater of the absurd.

The Great Texas Buzzard Massacre
I know that some of my readers probably think I am as full of
wind as a corn-eating horse, but this tale is all too woefully
true.
Remember a few posts ago I spoke of a road trip to Hamilton and
the Indian Gap side trip? Well, we never made it to Indian Gap.
We love the Koffee Kup in Hico, Storms drive-inn in Lampasas,
and the Dairy Queen in Comanche. We do, however, avoid the Road
Kill Cafe.
And that brings me to my story. Road kill. Buzzard buffet on the
backroad. Between Glen Rose and Hico, I began to notice ominous
flocks of turkey buzzards roosting in the last of winter's bare-
limbed trees.
Turkey buzzard is the correct name for this nasty creature. And
they are about as welcome on the highways as a skunk is at a
lawn party. You have to keep a keen eye on buzzards because they
are not the brightest bird in the sky, and they must have very
poor eyesight or extremely macho attitudes.

Buzzards block body farm
in Scientific Enterprise 6
Buzzard brohaha: The potential of buzzards being a danger to air
traffic stopped a planned body farm from being developed near
the San Marcos air****t this week. (Photo from the U.S. Fish and
Wildlife Service)This is a story that only Dr. Hannibal Lecter
could love.
Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, has had to scuttle
its plans to develop a "body farm" near the San Marcos Air****t.
What's a body farm, you ask? It's a place where scientists bury
cadavers as a way to do forensic research on how bodies
decompose. And the plans for the body farm had to be scrapped
out of fears that it might attract buzzards that could be a
danger to planes landing at the air****t.
Two other universities in the United States currently have body
farms: the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and also Western
Carolina University in Cullowhee, N.C.
The idea behind the farms is to find out specific information on
how bodies decompose which would give better data to law
enforcement and coroners in being able to determine who and when
bodies died.

Plus, just as a general rule we tend to stay away from the South

shows. To be honest, with the few stores we do have down there
in the South we've never had great results. And we've had lots
of trouble. Weird infections, strange epidemics of hepatitis A

fever, weird rashes, hives, ringworm. It's like a big

UPDATE: A few people have written in to complain, and have

Rick Perry: Touching the lives of Texans.
From a fellow Texan in Hempstead.
Dear Gov. Rick Perry,
We live in one of the proposed corridor for the tollway. I just
found out about it yesterday, and am obviosuly upset. My wife
and I spent a lot of time saving for and purchasing our
retirement home here in Waller County.
I just found out that the State of Texas may tell us to get out,
and we would have no recourse. The thought that this could be
done, here in America, is a terrible thing. It may also interest
you that we have a lot of Turkey Buzzards in this area. One of
our residents called the Federal Animal people, to ask if some
could be killed - because they roost in pine trees here.
I hope this gives some additional ammunition. If people don't
count, perhaps Turkey Buzzards do.

'Electra traces: Beckett's critique of Sophoclean tragedy'
'WINNIE: One loses one's classics. [Pause] Oh not all. [Pause] A
part. [Pause] A part remains. [Pause] That is what I find so
wonderful, a part remains, of one's classics, to help one
through the day.' Samuel Beckett, Happy Days, [1]
In one of Beckett's most mythologically disturbing uses of
modern stage technology, the power of light burning down on
Winnie is sufficient to set her parasol on fire, as though
spontaneous combustion might destroy any human barrier between
the sun and the scorched earth.
What, indeed, would be the fate of modern opera were it not for
the power of electric light? The dimming of house lights to
generate the pool of religiosity associated with post-Wagnerian
opera can be understood as a homage to electricity. Understood
speculatively, then, Electra's salutation to holy light in the
theatre of Dionysus is transformed in the history of theatre by
the power of candles, tapers and torches, before the subsequent
impact of more elaborate lighting technologies, such as the
stage chandeliers of seventeenth-century
Where Electra's opening words speak of holy light and air that
has an equal share of earth, Winnie has a rather less
comfortable relation to the difference between light, air and
earth, as though elements of nature and modern theatrical
technology were closer to instruments of torture. There is
evidently a joke at work in hailing the modern lighting rig as a
source of holy light, but, as so often in Beckett's work, the
metonymic relation of human agency to theatrical technology also
affords a metaphor for the gulf between human physicality and
the powers of nature and God.
If much of the lyric content of Greek tragedy can be read as a
hymn to the powers of light that illuminate an outdoor theatre,
there is something uncannily accurate about the suggestion that
electricity has become the holy light of indoor theatre
Beckett's contribution to this modernist reception of Electra is
to offer an aesthetics of theatrical light that refuses to mourn
the loss of theatre's open-air lamentations in favour of a comic
determination to stare, like a cheerful rabbit, into the
headlights of modern theatrical technology.

Protesters rallied as Texas Gov. Rick Perry signed measures
against same-*** marriage and abortion at an evangelical school
in Fort Worth on Sunday.
In an act of political symbolism, Perry put his signature on a
proposed constitutional amendment banning same-*** marriages --
a signature that is not required, or even mentioned, in Texas
law.
About 350 protesters demonstrated outside Calvary Christian
Academy, decrying not only the governor's policies but also his
choice of venue, as a breach of the constitutional separation of
church and state.
It hurts that he [Perry] can cheapen politics and religion by
this kind of maneuver, and people can think it's OK," said Karin
Cagle to the AP. Cagle, a 45-year-old from Fort Worth, carried a
sign saying, "Separate church and state -- keep America great."
Kathy Walt, a spokeswoman for Perry, defended the event. "It's
not a separation of church and state issue. It's not limited to
people of one faith," she said, adding that the governor "is
signing a piece of legislation that reflects the values and
interests of the majority of Texans."

Sensors - Radar uses radio waves to detect objects, bouncing
them off a vehicle or object and measuring the time it
takes them to return in order to gauge distance. Some aircraft
are able to fly and land without visibility, using radar alone.
Radar waves can be controlled by certain individuals with
magnetic or electrical control (such as Magneto? or Electra?).
With a successful FEAT roll, the radar waves may be redirected
to make any one object the controlling person chooses
invisible.
For example, a villain with Monstrous electromagnetic control
approaches an air base protected by radar with a 200-mile
range. The Judge decides that a Green FEAT will be sufficient
to deflect the radar. When the villain enters the radar field,
the judge rolls for him and gets a Yellow FEAT result.
Each missile is designed for one attack mode: air-to-air, airto-
ground, ****p-to-****p, etc. If a missile designed for one purpose
is used for another, its Control rank moves one column to
the left (if it can be used at all). Only missiles designed to go
underwater will be able to penetrate the surface of an ocean
or lake; all others will explode the instant they strike the surface
of the water.
For example, a hypothetical villain named Buzzard Man
zooms toward a military jet. The jet fires a passive heat-seeking
air-to-air missile at him.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_L-188_Electra
Lockheed L-188 Electra
The Lockheed L-188 Electra is an American turboprop airliner
built by Lockheed.
On February 3, 1959, American Airlines Flight 320 en route from
Chicago to New York City crashed on approach, killing 65 of 73
on board. This crash pushed the death of Buddy Holly, The Big
Bopper, and Richie Valens (also in a plane crash) off of the
front pages.
On September 29, 1959, a Braniff Electra (Braniff Flight 542)
crashed in Buffalo, Texas en route to Dallas, Texas from Houston,
Texas. Twenty-nine passengers and five crew members died in the
crash. The plane, registration number N9705C, was eleven days
old when it crashed. The Civil Aeronautics Board blamed the
crash on the "whirl-mode" prop theory. [1]
Just under six months later, on March 17, 1960, an Electra
operated as Northwest Orient Flight 710, en route from Chicago
to Miami, Florida, broke apart in flight over Perry County,
Indiana, cra****ng in a farm field eight miles east of Cannelton.
All 63 people on board were killed (57 passengers and six crew
members).
The flying public's confidence in the Electra, however, had been
dealt a near-fatal blow.
On October 4, 1960 Eastern Air Lines Flight 375 crashed on
takeoff from Boston, Massachusetts's Logan International Air****t,
killing 62 of 72 on board. The crash was eventually determined
to be the result of bird ingestion in three engines rather than
structural failure.
On May 3, 1968, a Braniff Electra, Flight 352, which was en
route from Houston to Dallas, disintegrated over Dawson, Texas.
All 80 passengers and five crew members were killed. This was
the worst air disaster in Texas at the time. The Probable Cause
found by the NTSB was excessive loads put upon the aircraft
structure while attempting to recover from an unusual attitude
resulting from loss of control in thunderstorm turbulence.
On December 24, 1971 a Lansa Electra, Flight 508, which was en

Barton's lecture-***-sermon on Christian-American history is
much in demand among the fringe groups of the far right. In 1991,
he spoke at a retreat in Colorado sponsored by Pastor Pete
Peters, whose Scriptures for America ministry is affiliated with
the racist and anti-Semitic Christian Identity movement.
(According to a re****t by Rob Boston in the journal Church and
State, Peters' congregation at one time included members of a
neo-Nazi group called The Order, the same local neo-Nazi group
implicated in the 1984 murder of Denver talk-radio host Alan
Berg.) But Barton, it must be said, is not without more
respectable affiliations: in 1997, he was elected vice-president
of the Texas Republican Party.
Hawking It To the Districts
From the Texas Panhandle to deep East Texas to suburban Plano,
few political movements are as well organized or as ubiquitous
as the religious right. A smart marketing strategy can put that
organization to work for you. In January of 1995, following a
bruising, months-long state battle over health textbooks, David
Irons, then regional vice president of McGraw-Hill's Glencoe
division, sent a marketing pitch to Texas school district
superintendents. Irons pointed out that of the four texts that
survived the adoption process, only Glencoe received a near
unanimous approval. How did Glencoe get through the process
unscathed? Irons cited five good reasons [emphasis in original].
Glencoe Health, he wrote, (1) "is the only health text that is
exclusively abstinence based"; (2) "does not contain a
discussion about alternatives to abstinence such as 'protected
*** by wearing a condom'"; (3) "does not promote a Pro-
Homo***ual lifestyle or an Anti-Family agenda"; (4) "had limited
changes and revisions out of the nearly 300 changes that the
others health publishers were required to make"; and (5) "is the
only health text endorsed by the Texas Council for Family Values [
Anne Newman's former group], the American Family Association of
Texas, and Concerned Women of America."

Sartre's earlier works such as Existentialism and Humanism and
Being and Nothingness express 'Sartre's basic message--that the
world can be changed; that we are free to change it; and if we
fail to do so we bear the responsibility'
Our past no longer existed... But the future--even though an
enemy army was occupying France--was new...we were at liberty to
make it a future of the defeated or a future of free men'
That Sartre's interest in freedom was not purely philosophical
is made clear in the example of Sartre's 1943 occupation play
The Flies. The Flies originates from the Greek myth of Electra
and Orestes, and discusses the nature of fate and freedom via a
comparison of Electra and Orestes' reactions to matricide
committed as revenge

I saw the band playing Gibson flying 'V's on stage in my mind so
that was my first goal. We got the songs together and I
proceeded to audition the rest of the line-up. Next up I got
Mark Filbrandt on Lead Guitar and Gino Perrone on Drums. Last
was Tom Keske Jr. on Bass.
"A few months later I found a new guitarist from Austin TX named
William Proctor. We started working on the songs. I gave him a
tape and I brought Mark back in as the Lead Guitarist. Bill
learned all the songs, Mark on the other hand had no idea what
was going on, he had forgot everything in regards to playing the
songs, I let him go for the second and final time.
I'm totally 100% this band looks and sounds like no other. I
have total faith and the utmost confidence and respect for what
we do.

The local Secretary of the Revolutionary Party, a Seventh Day

transforming witches; though he has never seen them, he has
heard them at night. An Indian who teaches school on one of the
coffee fincas re****ted that, when he was outside of his house
one night, he was attacked by buzzards who swooped down on him

that the buzzards were witches sent against him by his father-in-
law, a shaman whom he accused of being a sorcerer and with whom
he had had a long and acrimonious dispute over land.
Anxieties stemming from these sources were reduced by a fervent
identification with the new religion, reinforced by dreams in
which God approved of his actions and demonstrated the falseness
of the old religion, and by the "persecution" he suffered from
witches, which he himself interpreted as additional proof that
he trod the path of righteousness. Having already received the
approbation of God, he found a further corroboration of his
virtue from infernal powers.

It should have been razed, torn down so that no two stones were
left standing and the ghosts that haunt it could be put to rest.
The notion of a literal haunting is superstitious and irrational.
Yet the idea persists. We tell stories of haunted places --
places where the shadows of past evils linger -- because these
stories convey some truths that transcend mere superstition.
The house of horrors has a fresh coat of paint, but it remains a
haunted place.
The danger of superstitious tales of haunted houses is that they
can be used to mask the moral agency of the people involved.
It is a house of horrors whose only facility is in allowing such
horrors to continue.
Burn it down. Burn it down until nothing is left.

OSHA came under considerable scrutiny after the BP Texas City
explosion. The question most commonly asked was:
"Why didn't OSHA spot the problems that led to the explosion and
stop it before the explosion and the loss of 15 people?"
Areas where BP Texas City proved woefully inadequate were
incident investigation and corrective action implementation. The
accident at the Texas City Refinery was foretold by prior
incidents. If these incidents had been addressed by implementing
effective corrective actions to fix the incident's root causes,
there would have been no accident.
The TapRoot system is used by many US and international
refineries to enhance their investigation programs,
improve safety, and improve process/equipment reliability.

The tug, U.S.S. Cherokee was the principal tower as I recall,
assisted by the U.S.S. Raven. The Electra was moored alongside
the dock just abaft of the Jean Bart, a newly constructed French
Battle****p whose engines had not yet been installed. It had huge
guns (18 inches I believe) and made the mistake of firing on the
Massachusetts for which it furnished a sitting duck target and
was soon silenced. A guard patrolled back and forth on the Jean
Bart's fantail carrying a 15th century halberd. When questioned,
this practice was justified with the reply "We've always done
this."
The HMS Penelope, a British Cruiser, was undergoing repairs in
the Charleston Navy Yard at the same time as the Electra. These
Penelope sailors were a rum lot. Insults and fisticuffs were
freely exchanged by the Penelope and Electra crews in every bar
in Charleston. The British sailors even had the effrontery to
court Charleston girls.
On the morning of July 4th sailors sleeping below were disturbed

loud explosion was heard and the ****p shuddered (it was in

One of the Pleiades; a daughter of Atlas and Pleone.
Zeus lusted after Electra and spirited her to Olympus. Electra
had tried to prevent Zeus from raping her, by running away and
hiding behind the Palladium, a wooden image of Pallas, Athena's
childhood friend. Zeus, in anger, flung the Palladium from
heaven, and then he raped Electra on the island of Samothrace
Either her son Dardanus or Ilus (her great, great grandson)
would later find the Palladium. The Palladium was an object that
protected Troy from being capture. Troy's fall was imminent in

Feist turns up the heat at the Palladium Ballroom
Behind a partition in silhouette, Feist began the show with the
intro "Safe and Secure", a ritual performance that gives good
will to the audience; a way of saying "enjoy the show". She
moved onto a traditional folk song inspired by Texas Gladden
called "When I Was a Young Girl," a rendition best described as
an ember-tipped number that will rock you out.
There were a few points during the show that Feist exhibited her
humorous side. During her encore performance of "The Water," she
noticed a security guard catch someone with a camcorder at the
front of the audience, so she worked it into the song, calling
attention to the interrupter. Another instance of interruption
came from the Palladium's own staff. During the final song of
the set, "Let It Die", Feist was singing one of the most
intimate lines of the slow ballad when the loud crash of bottles
being dumped into a trash bin could be heard.

Unruly baby heckles Governor Rick Perry at Dallas book-signing
At 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening, Texas Governor Rick Perry made a
stop at Borders Books at Preston & Royal to promote his new book,
On My Honor.
The work apparently "takes dead aim at the moral relativism of
the secular humanist movement." Translation: it's a book ba****ng

of excluding homo***uals or the non-religious from member****p.
Roughly 200 folks turned out for the seven-minute speech and
book signing, which took a sour note early into Perry's opening
remarks when an unknown man suddenly hollered out "It's a
homophobic group!"
Unphased,* Perry kept on talking (maybe he didn't hear), while a
murmur/groan trickled through the crowd. The man made no further
interruptions.
However, this display of contempt soon spread to a nearby baby,
who from the refuge of its stroller would stop at nothing to
deride Perry's every remark, to stifle him at every turn

www.truthout.org/issues_06/020906HC.shtml
Anti-gay researcher Paul Cameron's falsehoods are well-known.
The incredible thing is the people who still cite them.
Nearly 600 evangelical Christians packed into the gymnasium of
the Calvary Christian Academy in Forth Worth, Texas, to witness
a ceremony on a Sunday in June. With a flourish of his pen,
Texas Gov. Rick Perry signed the first bill while the
televangelist at his side praised Jesus.
Parsley heaped praise on Gov. Perry for "protecting the children
of Texas from the gay agenda." Then he rattled off a series of
shocking statistics: "Gay *** is a veritable breeding ground for
disease," he said. "Only 1 percent of the homo***ual population
in America will die of old age. The average life expectancy for
a homo***ual in the United States of America is 43 years of age.
A lesbian can only expect to live to be 45 years of age.
Homo***uals represent 2 percent of the population, yet today
they're carrying 60 percent of the known cases of syphilis."
The televangelist did not reveal where he got those numbers. He
stated them starkly as facts to be accepted on blind faith. But
they are not facts. They are gross distortions lifted straight
from the pages of pseudoscientific studies by Dr. Paul Cameron,
a crackpot psychologist and champion of the anti-gay crusade.
Under the guise of chairman of the Family Research Institute,
his statistical chop shop in Colorado Springs, Colo., Cameron
has published dozens upon dozens of research studies that offer
homophobes a supposedly scientific justification for their
prejudices by invariably concluding that gays and lesbians are
dangerous and diseased perverts.
"Homo***uality is an infectious appetite with personal and
social consequences," is how Cameron describes the phenomenon he
studies. "It is like the dog that gets a taste for blood after
killing its first victim and desires to get more victims
thereafter with a ravenous hunger."
All we're saying is, screen and quarantine until we come up with
a cure," Cameron said. "Rights have run amok in our society,
particularly ***ual ones. Homo***uals were hung 300 years ago in
our society."
"Is that what you're advocating today, that gay people be hung?"
the gay journalist replied.
Cameron continued, "Homo***uals were castrated 200 years ago."
"So things are getting better then?"
"Homo***uals were imprisoned 100 years ago."
"What sort of concentration camps do you have in mind, Dr.
Cameron?"

When it's time for the fallout
And Saint Peter calls us all out,
We'll just drop our agendas and adjourn.
And we will all go together when we go.
Every Hottentot and every Eskimo.
When the air becomes uranious,
We will all go simultaneous.
Yes, we all will go together
When we all go together,
Yes we all will go together when we go.

POET'S POSTSCRIPT
Readers can be reassured that this is entirely a piece of fictional
revenge-fantasy/speculation.
In fact, you can *know* that neither I nor anyone under my spell
could have had anything whatever do it.
Why? Burning mansions is not something that I would do, but
if I did, just hypothetically, I certainly would have made
sure that the Governor was inside at the time.
As a matter of fact, I would probably just burn the Governor
at the stake, and leave the mansion. I would have no quarrel with
a piece of fine architecture.
Oh, you think that is quite horrible, don't you?
Burn the Governor at the stake? How deranged.
Let me put that into perspective for you. Religious fanatics
burned my kind at the stake, by the thousands.
The good people of Texas would pretend not to endorse that,
yet their apathy toward such facts of history is apparent.
In Texas, death of gays has rarely been a source of
outrage for a majority of the population.
I have a long memory for new tidbits. The city of Houston
city council inviting crackpot, genocide-advocate,
Dr. Paul Cameron, to come and speak to them.
A GOP state politician who openly advocated death penalty
for gays. Did the state GOP formally renounce the man
and his views? Are you kidding?
A top-ranking, GOP state politican, associated with
Pastor Peter Peters. Peters has long been notorious for
maintaining a web site that openly called for death penalty
for gays.
The Texas GOP party platform viciously demonizes gays,
worded in Christian Reconstruction terms - again, a movement
that wants death for gays.
Many quotes fill the memory - a man quoted in the paper,
saying "We don't like gays any more than communists,
down here". A judge saying that "killing a gay man is
like killing a prostitute" - not as im****tant. A state
politician blaming the entire gay population for a
***-killing. Another politician saying that "gays do things
that even animals don't do".
One would not necessarily have to be "deranged" to burn
down the mansion of the Governor of Texas. They would
have to know the score- the real fascist tendencies,
the real depth of mindless hate, that permeates the
poisoned culture of the state, and on which it prides
itself.
Usually, acts of violence are committed first and
foremost by people who do NOT have the legitimate
grievances. The people who have the real grievances,
mostly cope by sticking their heads up their rear-ends,
refusing to see, so as not to be disturbed too much
by what they would otherwise see. The people whose
human dignity has been assaulted, typically sell out
for a little bit of safety and material creature
comfort, living in a little bubble-world of their
own friends, trying to avoid contact with the ocean
of sick sleaze that would engulf them.
However, if the world made more sense, the #1 group
in Texas, by a wide margin, to engage in random acts
of violent retaliation against that state, to punish it
until it couldn't stand it anymore, and gave ground,
would be gays.
PSYCHOPATHIA IS PAYBACK
I am are that there are many people, reading what
I write and recoiling, "Oh, this is so weird, so sick..."
Yes, isn't it? Sue me. There is an old saying that
I made up:
"If you do not like dealing with psychopaths, you should
not drive people crazy."
Sickness is exactly what you've got coming to you, sweetheart.
For things like genocide-advocate Paul Cameron, cozying
with the Christian Right, while gutless, bland media fail
to re****t, and praise them all as "values voters".
Very crazy-making and to hell with you all,
average, reader, whoever you may be.
Damn your eyes, damn your history. The entire history
of the human race is written in blood. If we have
learned so little, after all this time, why should not
the future be written in even larger volumes of blood?
A creeping jungle-horror of raging lunatics is only
what our bland, hate-soaked, self-satisfied fellow
countrymen have made for themselves.
FICTION BECOMING REALITY
I say that what I write is "fiction". There is a bit
more nuance to the picture. I do not try to create false image,
which is what "fiction" is. Regardless of what happened in
this particular event, what I write is also a vision of
of a world that very easily could come into reality.
It is invitation to prevent that world from coming into
existence, which not happen by chest-pounding pronouncements
of what will not be tolerated, or who will be headed off
at the pass, smoked out of caves, and outgunned at the
OK Coral.
It will only prevented by addressing religious hatred
as a social problem that is every bit as serious as racism
-maybe more so, because it comes with a heavier load
or imagined justifications and sense of righteousness.
I do not enage in things like assassination or arson,
partly because I have never needed to do so. What is write
is a little more than just "fiction" or a ****trait of an
imagined future reality. I would not try to "incite" anyone
with what I write, because am too impressed with the
blandeness of my kind, that can barely seem to conceive
of such things, much less approve of them.
THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT YOU ARE JUST LIKE NEARLY EVERYBODY ELSE.
THE BAD NEWS IS THAT NEARLY EVERYBODY IS A BASTARD, TOO
Please do not try to tell me that I am being hateful
of the people of Texas, and therefore undeserving of
sympathy for the hatred that has been shown to gay people
by the state of Texas. There have been, to be sure,
decent people in Texas- Molly Ivins and Ann Richards
come to mind. I subscribe to a small newsletter by
Jim Hightower, who is a sensible and decent human being.
It is just that these people are in a minority,
not enough to redeem the overall state. Not when the
Texas GOP party platform is calling vociferously for
the re-criminalization of gays, and when that fact goes
almost uncommented upon by the national media.
I do not pick on Texas- this poem is just Texas'
own time to ****ne. For a gay person, it is almost
like playing "state capitals". Name a state, I will tell
you the capital and a reason why the state that has
made it despicable to gays.
It works like this:
The capital of Iowa is Des Moines.
I hate Iowa because it voted for Huckabee,
who once talked about concentration
camps for people with HIV.
The capital of Ohio is Columbus.
I hate Ohio because a politician who advocated
death penalty for gays ran for Congress, and not even
the Democratic party managed to offer apology,
much less the GOP, and nor did the media act
like this was anything significant.
The capital of Virginia is Richmond.
I hate Virginia is because it was illegal to sell
alcohol to homo***uals until the 1970s, but they
have not improved much, because a lesbian mother
had her biological child taken away by the courts.
I have lost all respect for the country of my birth,
one painful square mile at a time.
I know all 50 capitals.
No, it is not just Texas, or just America. The human race
is is what is damned.
Texans are like Muslims. It is a shame. There is nothing
wrong with their genes, at least that isn't wrong with
the whole human race. It is just a rotten culture that
twists them, and which they think is quite wonderful
and superior, just like the President of Iran does.
You cannot say that the Texas GOP and its
rat-poison bigotry does not reflect on the overall
character of the state. After all, the GOP loves to
*brag* how they control nearly every office in the
state. They joke about state Democrats being surround
by "buzzards".
The Texas GOP has an *official* platform, which is loaded
to the gills with fascist-level contempt for the existence
of its gay citizens, whom they would never even deem
to refer to as "citizens".
Please don't bother trying to lecture me, to claim
that there is no collective culpability entailed in
any of that. The People of the state have made their
own state a fair game for retaliation by its disenfranchised.
LAUGHING IN THE FACE OF DEATH
Do I engage in things like assassination? Let's have
nuanced precision in the answer to that question.
I have enough murder in my heart to annihilate the planet.
This is true. I will never apologize to family or
naive, disappointed friends, much less to opponents.
I have wonderful self-control over that fact, or I would
have been dead or in jail at least 30 years ago. None of
this feeling has wavered an iota, only grown more intense,
and its reasons more confirmed, over the slow years.
I have not engaged in any acts of violence and have
no specific plans of doing so.
However, I suggest that all gays consider what I say,
and keep in the back of their minds, this thought.
The kinds of people who commit the most violence in
this world are losers- maladjusted kids who cannot get
a date, like "Cho", gay-hating religious fanatics like
Osama bin Laden. Intelligent people who have half of a life-
who have loved ones, good careers, etc, do not simply throw them
away in fits of violence, because it might very well be an
exercise in futility, anyway.
It is a true cliche- part of good revenge is living well.
I would advise anyone to try to make the most of what
little time that they have, before doing anything rash.
However, Life is a game of dimini****ng returns. Last week,
a good friend learned that he has Parkinson's disease.
Steve Jobs, 3 years younger than myself, for all his
billions, probably cannot win the battle with pancreatic
cancer.
A family friend had died of pancreatic cancer. Allow me
to describe it.
He was getting blood clots from the experimental chemotherapy.
One day, he could not urinate, because he had blood clots
in his *****. He was in the bathroom, trying to squeeze
out the clot. When he succeeded, the blood splurted from his
*****, all over the wall.
He couldn't keep food down, and was literally starving.
He died, years ago. The optimistic dream of living many
more good years, of finding dramatic new therapies, was
just wishful-thinking. The experimental chemo was killing him
faster than the cancer.
I know that the state of Texas is a hard-assed, macho-complexed
state with something to prove, as is the way of macho
complex. However, young tough guys, or pasty, jelly-bellied
politicians cannot win an argument with someone who has
lived too long to be fooled.
When I say that I have no fear of death, it is not Texas-style
machismo. It is rationality, knowing that even the tortures
of Guantamo cannot match what Life can deliver as easily to the
most inoffensive of us.
Name an organ, and there is a cancer to go with it:
stomach cancer, brain cancer, prostate cancer, pancreatic cancer,
breast cancer, liver cancer, skin cancer. All of them are hell.
If that doesn't get you, your heart will.
There comes a point where you have nothing left in this
world to lose, except your illusions. And your fear,
including the fear of the judgments of your fellow
human beings.
Gay people are not a violent lot, no matter how much they
might get smeared with hate-propaganda to the contrrary.
In fact, they have been so oppressed not because they are really
a threat to the species by being insufficiently reproductive,
but precisely because they are seen as "weak". That is first,
and foremost, what attracts the bottomless sadism and nearly-
universal apathy.
Gays are so heavily propagandized by their own oppressive
masters, that they would feel deep guilt pangs about the
thought of using violence to advance their agenda.
They believe, in their innocent hearts, that the best
path is to "win respect" or "build coalitions", to
"be positive and constructive".
I suggest to them to consider the contrary view, the heresy.
You will always be a minority, because you do not produce
enough offspring. Our politicians are power-hungry, as
is only human nature. You will never be anything but
an albatross, and never anything but ignorable and expendable.
You can try your damnedest to play the game, work
within the system, and do favors for game-playing,
professional bull-**** artist politicians, but you
will always be outnumbered and swamped by the financial
clout of the opposition. In their cynical books, that
is all that really matters.
Human beings are extraordinarily self-centered,
across the board- black, white, Jew, Christian.
Most of the other minorities with whom you might
build "coalitions" are no less bigoted than the average,
or sometimes, even more so. Only smaller -and
generally inconsequential- numbers can accurately
see the commonality of the current and historical situations.
You *do*, however, have a potential to inflict violent
punishment to a degree that will eventually wear down
the opposition, after all their posturing, their face-saving,
their bravado, their reflexive hunger for counter-vengeance
has been spent.
Even in your 70's or 80's, if you have the strength left
to pick up fork, you have the strength to pick up a match.
In my 70's or 80's, I might even then very well decide
to do something non-violent, if for no other reason, because
I am watched too closely to succeed with any literal
act of violence. Or, the world might have changed on its own.
Or, I might mellow.
However, when you are dying, you are free. If I did decide
to opt for violence, a state like Texas would be an attractive
target, precisely *because* it thinks it is so tough, and
so happy with its death penalty. I would love to laugh
in the face of the state, to tell them that they'd better
hurry up, because death penalty is of little concern
to a man who is dying of cancer.
BARBECUE VOO-DOO
I say that I would probably be incapable of *literal* violence,
because I am watched. However, one of the fascinating things
about my bizarre life is that *in spite* of being constantly
watched, or maybe even, indirectly, due to cir***stances
*because* of being watched or experimented upon, there are
mysteries swirling.
I will not even rehash how in 2005, I wrote poetry about
an explosion in Texas City, only weeks *before* a new explosion
occurred. Many things like this have happened, more than what
is even publicly visible in my poetry newsgroup posts.
I do not know what it means. I can only theorize. There are
multiple possibilities, of which "random concidence" is only
one, and one of the less plausible.
Another part of the explanation for my being fearless
is that, for whatever inexplicable and improbable reason,
I appear to be far from being helpless or harmless.
By the time that one if as provocative as I am,
harmless and innocence would be a sure ticket for
becoming yet another political murder victim, completely
covered up by our bland and corrupt media.
Dangerous mystery is the *only* thing left that
can keep you alive and free.
It is too bad that so few people would ever have op****tunity to
experience such a thing - it somewhat compensates for grim
reality, a nearly-complete freedom that is probably approximated
by no other, like hang-gliding behind a jumbo jet.
I will keep repeating this message, even if I have
said it, before. What I write is not even an attempt
to entertain or impress with "poetry". I approach it
as a kind of verbal-voodoo, trying to tap a vein of something
that we do not understand, trying to bend reality so that
it imitates the vision. I wouldn't have expected, any more
than you, such such a seemingly preposterous notion could
have any validity, but for whatever reason- at least in
this unique cir***stance - it appears to do exactly that.
The meaning of that will be lost on you, most probably,
because you do not have the context and background
of everything that has transpired, heretofore. I personally
feel that there is a significant chance that minor events
like an oil refinery explosion, or a dying, conservative icon,
or a train wreck, would eventually give way to more serious
events as foreshadowed by malfunctioning control rods,
or collapsing cooling towers, at nuclear reactors.
The brutality is not here with me- it is with you,
good citizens of Texas and America. There is a clear
message coming to you, and a clear avoidance strategy
that is well within your power, representing only
what decent citizens - not Good Germans- would want
to do voluntarily. If you refuse to see that, because
or your hatreds, indifference, or arrogance, then
anything that might happen to you is of your own
decision and a consequence of your own character.
