Clearly we should be getting away from middle east oil because that is the
ONLY real solution to terrorism. That is, quit dealing with the Arab
world.
Also, we need to develop alternatives for environmental and economic
reasons
so Bush makes the right noise but it is just noise. There is no plan,
direction or real funding nor is there the will in his party or from his
sup****ters to go in the alternative direction. After all, they are oil men
above all and given the obscene profits in that industry there really is
zero incentive to do anything but more oil. Bush gives lip service and
speaks in platitudes but nothing will come of it. A progressive solution
would tax some of the obscene windfall profits to assist with the deficit
and to help develop alternative energy. But that ain't going to happen
under
repugs. They believe big business and big oil should be able to rape our
society and economy without any payback for the privilege of doing
business
in the US and making so much money. Is that the America we want?
