Not much of a news item, inspiring much analysis,
that someone from the NSA is moved over to
head the CIA.
Cross-fertilization? To prevent inter-agency
turf wars? To promote "synergy" and "teamwork"?
Those would be the obvious things, but maybe
something more, between the lines...
Something out-of-control, that they are trying
to get control over, that they don't want to say?
Something that they have been trying to get
control over for 40-odd years, with little success,
in spite of a revolving door, purges, house-cleaning,
regardless of the ideology of the administration?
The NSA is supposed to have the Big Ears,
so where the hell have they been, for the last
40-odd years? Reading auto license plates
from spy satellites, for fun, instead of noticing
all the bodies in America's basement?
The NSA doesn't have the CIA's
bad rep, but it is probably an illusion that they
would be any better.
It is a truism, if you want to find the corruption,
follow the money, because the corruption is where
the money is. The NSA has long been the one
with more money.
Also, if you want to find corruption, look where
no one is looking. The corruption will generally
be deeper where fewer people are paying attention.
Just ponderings.
