Thanks. I had forgotten this story. He was, according to the bible,
"testing" Abraham's faith. In other parts of the bible, the writers claim
that God doesn't test people, as well as not lie. I usually think of
these
verses referring to Abraham and Isaac about testing and not lying, but,
you're right, it's a lie too.
DOES GOD TEMEPT OR TEST PEOPLE?
Genesis, Chapter 22
"1": And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham,
and
said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.
Deuteronomy, Chapter 8
"2": And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee
these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to
know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments,
or no.
Judges, Chapter 2
"22": That through them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way
of the LORD to walk therein, as their fathers did keep it, or not.
Matthew, Chapter 6
"13": And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine
is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Matthew, Chapter 26
"41": Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed
is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Mark, Chapter 14
"38": Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly
is
ready, but the flesh is weak.
Luke, Chapter 11
"4": And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is
indebted
to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
Luke, Chapter 22
"40": And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter
not into temptation.
1 Corinthians, Chapter 10
"13": There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but
God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are
able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may
be
able to bear it.
1 Timothy, Chapter 6
"9": But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into
many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and
perdition.
James, Chapter 1
"1": James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve
tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting. "2": My brethren, count it
all
joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
"13": Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God
cannot
be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: "14": But every man is
tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
