There's a cool line in a La Rue song that I love. It says, "Angels
watch over me....as I go to sleep." Well, we have God's word that
angels DO watch over us, if we trust in the Lord.
Psalms 91:9-12
"Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most
High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall
any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge
over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in
their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone."
The greek words translated as "in all thy ways" above literally means
wherever you go. Angels are watching over you. God is watching over
you. You cannot escape it. The question is do you want them watching
only or acting on your behalf. If you want them acting, you have to
trust in the Lord and "make [Him] thy habitation" or literally live
inside Him. Surround yourself with Him through prayer, praise, and
trust. He will not fail you.
Even the devil knows of this angelic ****eld. That is why the devil
quoted the above verse to Jesus as part of His trials. If it weren't
scripture, it wouldn't have been a trial for Jesus. Therefore, you
can take the devil's word for it that you have angels watching over
you.
Exodus 23:20
"Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to
bring thee into the place which I have prepared."
Psalms 34:7
"The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and
delivereth them."
Matthew 4:5-6
"Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a
pinnacle of the temple, And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God,
cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge
concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at
any time thou dash thy foot against a stone."
Matthew 4:11
"Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered
unto him."
Luke 10:17-19
"And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the
devils are subject unto us through thy name. And he said unto them, I
beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you
power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of
the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you."
