A 20-year-old Carey man has been charged with rape for allegedly
having *** with a 13-year-old girl who at the time was in foster care
with the man's parents.
Brian Jake Adamson was formally charged with the crime on Thursday,
April 17, in Blaine County Magistrate Court. He was represented at the
hearing by attorney Kevin Cassidy of The Roark Law Firm in Hailey. A
preliminary hearing was scheduled for 9 a.m. on April 30. Adamson was
released from custody after posting $5,000 bond.
Cassidy said at Adamson's initial court hearing that his client is
a longtime Carey resident who now resides in Twin Falls where he is a
student at the College of Southern Idaho. Cassidy said that his client
has no criminal history.
Court records state that Adamson is the son of Craig and Betty
Adamson, who had two children in foster care at their home in Carey at
the time of the alleged ***ual encounter between Brian Adamson and the
13-year-old girl. The other was a 15-year-old girl. Court records
further state that both girls were removed from the Adamsons' home in
early 2008.
The rape charge against Brian Adamson resulted from a lengthy
investigation by the Blaine County Sheriff's Office. Detective Steve
Harkins wrote in a probable cause affidavit filed with the court that he
was contacted by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare on March 27
concerning the "possible ***ual abuse of two foster children."
Both Brian Adamson and his younger brother, 17-year-old Heith
Adamson, were investigated in the case but only Brian Adamson was charged.
Harkins further wrote that the alleged ***ual encounter between
Brian Adamson and the 13-year-old girl occurred in October of last year
following a Carey High School home football game. Harkins alleged in the
affidavit that both Brian Adamson and the girl were intoxicated at the
time.
Brian Adamson allegedly "inappropriately touched" the girl while
the two were in the "suspect's vehicle, a green type truck" but the
"***ual intercourse occurred at the Adamsons' residence," Harkins wrote
in the affidavit.
Harkins further wrote that one piece of evidence in the case is a
diary that the girl kept, in which the girl confessed to having "lost
her virginity to a person named Brian."

Imagine that, 6.4 children die at the hands of the very agencies that
are supposed to protect them and only 1.5 at the hands of parents per
100,000 children. CPS perpetrates more abuse, neglect, and ***ual abuse
and kills more children then parents in the United States. If the
citizens of this country hold CPS to the same standards that they hold
parents too. No judge should ever put another child in the hands of ANY
government agency because CPS nationwide is guilty of more harm and
death than any human being combined. CPS nationwide is guilty of more
human rights violations and deaths of children then the homes from which
they were removed. When are the judges going to wake up and see that
they are sending children to their death and a life of abuse when
children are removed from safe homes based on the mere opinion of a
bunch of social workers.

A recent study has found that 12-18 months after leaving foster care:
30% of the nation’s homeless are former foster children.
27% of the males and 10% of the females had been incarcerated
33% were receiving public assistance
37% had not finished high school
2% receive a college degree
50% were unemployed
Children in foster care are three to six times more likely than children
not in care to have emotional, behavioral and developmental problems,
including conduct disorders, depression, difficulties in school and
impaired social relation****ps. Some experts estimate that about 30% of
the children in care have marked or severe emotional problems. Various
studies have indicated that children and young people in foster care
tend to have limited education and job skills, perform poorly in school
compared to children who are not in foster care, lag behind in their
education by at least one year, and have lower educational attainment
than the general population.
