It is called the "age of reason," for a reason. (Forgetting the 17th

At age six-seven, for most children, they can begin weighing what they
are told with their own experience and what they see. (not that such
behavior is encouraged) Before that age, they are dependant on their
parents or teachers for most of what they believe. Psychology 101
This is one of the reasons we still have racists and bigots.
No two kids come out of the same cookie cutter or share the same
experiences. Takes some longer than others to figure out they are
being misled. When the misinformation gives them solace or makes them
comfortable they tend not to question.
By definition learning times tables would be brainwa****ng - you are
trying to say that all brainwa****ng is bad, simply because you have
negative connotations with the word (as do most folks).
The Korean children are required to learn a catechism but instead of
the usual deities, Kim Jung Il is the deity. Complete with the myth
of his supernatural birth, complete with the questions and answers all
Catholic children who learn the Baltimore Catechism were required to
learn.
