THE EVANGELICALS' CREED
I. We believe in god, the dollar,
maker of our prosperity.
II. And in our own doctrines, we get
from our own universities.
III. We believe in our much singing,
as the world goes down to hell.
And in our big buildings; our ceiled homes,
and our coffers as deep as a well.
IV. We'll teach you about psychology; we'll
tell you how to live.
V. And you can come to us, join our church,
as long as you're prepared to give.
VI. We believe in caring for our own,
but to the poor, you, we cannot help.
VII. But we'll teach you how to be very good
and all about your mental health.
VIII. A drink of water, from us, you won't receive,
and nary a morsel of food.
But our preachers are the best you've ever seen,
in thousand dollar suits.
IX. And remember, we love you brother -
Sister, it's very true.
X. Come wor****p with us, learn from us,
and we'll make you all brand new.
