Air America Host Suspended for Clinton Remarks
By Brian Stelter

     http://www.youtube.com/v/DfdhWi5MILo&hl=en

Randi Rhodes, an afternoon host for the progressive Air America radio
network,
was suspended Thursday after repeatedly insulting Senator Hillary Rodham
Clinton at an event last month.

Ms. Rhodes used vulgar language that likened Mrs. Clinton to a prostitute
at
an event sponsored by KKGN, the Air America affiliate in the San Francisco
area, on March 22. A video of Ms. Rhodes' remarks was published to the
video-sharing Web site YouTube on Tuesday, prompting condemnations by some
bloggers.

In a statement, Charlie Kireker, the chair of Air America, said the radio
network "encourages strong opinions about public affairs but does not
condone
such abusive, ad hominem language by our hosts."

The network called Ms. Rhodes' suspension "indefinite" and did not
elaborate
on the fate of her daily three-hour radio show. "The Randi Rhodes Show" is
normally broadcast from 3 to 6 p.m. weekdays. Sam Seder, another Air
America
host, was scheduled to fill in for Ms. Rhodes on Thursday.

On the video, Ms. Rhodes is also shown using derogatory language to
describe
Geraldine A. Ferraro, a former congresswoman and a sup****ter of Mrs.
Clinton.
Ms. Ferraro resigned from a committee of Mrs. Clinton's campaign last
month
after making controversial remarks about Senator Barack Obama.

Earlier this year, David Shuster, a re****ter for MSNBC, was been suspended
because of comments he made about Chelsea Clinton. Mr. Shuster said Ms.
Clinton had been "pimped out" to make calls to superdelegates on behalf of
her
mother.

The reason some of these hosts get over exuberant is because the main
steam
media refuses to hold Hillary accountable for any of her misdeeds. It's
too
bad that large conglomerates own most of our media and try to control our
political environment. I miss the days of Walter Cronkite when factual
re****ting was valued.

from

Inappropriate? Yes. But this strikes me as a stand-up comedy routine for
someone who happens to be a radio show host, not an on-air broadcast or
anything of the like. How many times have politicians been ridiculed by
comedians in a similar manner?

I'm an Obama sup****ter, and I completely agree with this suspension-if not
an
outright firing. To give some context, I considered the "pimping Chelsea
out"
situation to be a severe overreaction on Clinton's part. However, this
situation with Rhodes is entirely different. Her words are clearly
unacceptable under any cir***stances and, at the very least, she should
apologize to Clinton and Ferraro immediately.

Honestly, we need to elevate the level of discourse here, not drop things
deeper into the gutter.

There is so much Hillary-ba****ng in the press that my friends and I - all
democrats - have started tuning in to Rush Limbaugh and Fox News to get
some
balanced view of the race. That's pretty pathetic but that's what it's
come
to.

I hope Ms. Rhodes is ultimately fired. The stuff she said is insulting to
many
more than just Geraldine and Hillary. much worse than Imus. This woman
trashes
everyone when she herself is the real "trash." And these were not
"misstatement" because it appears she was reading from her notes. What is
even
worse is that she though she was funny and her audience laughed at this
stuff.
This was not in any sense humorous. Maybe she was trying to do a Lewis
Black
thing, but this woman does not have the intelligence to know the
difference
between "hate" speech and humor.

The netroots have demonstrated to the public they are no better than
right-wing group like Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Coulter. I was a Dean democrat
against the war, have donated money and voted democrates throughout my
adult

Lieberman,
Hillary and other moderate Democrats, I will vote for McCain, period.

They can bring change to this country, but they are extremists to the
left.
They show no manner and no respect with cultlike mentality. Sad, very

I'm inclined to agree with Steve (post No. 1) on Rhodes, but it's
disappointing nonetheless to see her debase herself with this foul-mouth
rant.
Rhodes can be very intelligent and thoughtful on her radio show - she can
do
better than this.
(And I'm a fan of hers, and AAR - which is still on the air and doing just
fine in spite of everything; sorry to disappoint the right-wingers on
that!)

This type of language will get Clinton sup****ters disgruntled. Much of her
voters are older, high school educated, and not very internet savvy. They
are
often bullied by Obama sup****ters who tend to be more educated. At
caucuses
they constantly say she is a monster (Samantha Powers), evil, and a word
that
rhymes with witch. When asked if they would vote for Obama in the general
election, her voters might be more inclined to say no.

What's really funny about this is that the station

I wonder if we Democrats are capable of having a strong vigorous debate

I listen to her everyday. She's the smartest talk show person out there
right
now, and I can tell ya that the disgust she has for the way Hilary is
running
this campaign has been bubbling up for a while now. She's an honest person
and
has difficulty with dishonest people telling lies and smears.

She never would say who she sup****ted in the primaries until very
recently,
but after that, she was free to voice her opinions on the subject. I felt
this
video sounded out of character for her, maybe slightly personal? Hey,
maybe
they just made the LI Iced teas strong at that function! Happens to the
best
of us.

Hold your head up Randi, you've definitely been through worse this year.
Keep
doing what you're doing.

Ditto to Steve.first post. This struck me as a stand-up routine also, and
if
you've ever gone to some of those places, her comments were rather mild.
But
they certainly were not something that was meant to be broadcast. However,
we
live in a different world..so maybe everyone needs to clean up their acts?
I
think a brief suspension for Ms. Rhodes is appropriate as a wake-up call
to
all those 24/7 pundits who are skewing our election with their blather.
Former
President Bill Clinton once said he trusted the American people to get it
right. Isn't it funny that when we do seem to be getting it right (Obama)
he
wants to differ?

28.April 3rd, 2008 3:29 pm
The timing is ironic.

I was just told by several posters under another blog article that I was
incorrect and shamelessly playing the "victim card" and "gender baiting"
in
asserting that there was misogyny and ***ism in the media against Hillary
Clinton.

Randi Rhodes and David Shuster have been made examples of because they
crossed-the-line, and rightfully so. The larger story is the overall
atmosphere within which their comments exist. The fact that anyone in the
media would dare to utter such abusive and demeaning attacks in public
implies
that they thought they could perhaps get away with it.

For each of these over-the-top and obviously inappropriate statements,
thousands which are only slightly less offensive and damaging go unnoticed
and
uncommented upon. The gauge for what is acceptable and what is not is
clearly
broken.

As a Hillary Clinton sup****ter, I was braced for these comments if she was
the
nominee in the General Election. I never expected them from fellow
Democrats.
This is outrageous.

Am a Hillary sup****ter who grew up in a working class family in
Pennsylvania.
She would absolutely be the best candidate to represent this constituency.
And let them vote! Do you "like" every boss, leader, coach or authority
figure
you are under? Or do you respect them for their skills? I don't need to
like
anyone in a political position anymore having learned now in NYC that the
"unlikeable" and "uncharismatic" Michael Bloomberg has put the city on
more sound footing than any of the popular mayors who preceded him.
Be very careful of "like" as this will be a difficult and challenging
presidency and we need really skilled politicians and like many, I
believe it should be Hillary -but if not, it's over to McCain. Also
percentage
wise she is very close to Obama much as the press would not like to
say so most of the time. Let's not lose her like we lost Al Gore. Your
vote counts! All of them. Obama is my choice in 2012 when his skill
are broader.

Well, here we are at that insane divide between "appropriate" language and
free speech. We are at that disconnect that marks a monumental divide that
the
modern progressive movement is unwilling or unable to discuss: Do we
accept
free speech and insist that all points of view be heard, or do we suppress
all
speech that might be deemed offensive.

This is a primal and profound contradiction, and while it OUGHT to be
addressed, I have a feeling that it'll all be swept under the rug . as
usual.

I agree with Rhodes, by the by, and I have no problem with adults using
adult
language. It hasn't ever harmed ANYone, as far as I can tell. Deja vu.

I used to listen to Randi Rhodes before she became an Obama ****ll at Air

It's one thing to sup****t a candidate but to be so immature and vicious in
your sup****t does not help either yourself or your candidate. And a
supposedly
progressive radio station that is stupid enough to alienate half of it's

Whether Hillary is likeable or not likeable, It is very inappropriate for
anyone to use the airwaves to make such strong personal statements. And, I

approppriate.
many of these media type makes these statement to get this exact reaction

problem is also that the general public is soooo gulible that we feed off

If they were calling her opponent parallel names we would be having
crucifixions.

If he were subjected to a tenth the abuse and racism that she is abuse and
***ism, all the party hacks fawning all over him would be demanding a
complete
national re-do and fulminating with indignation.

Of course, the media always have to struggle with the vacuum created by
their
universal pledge to avoid discussions that are real, so it is only a
matter of
time till the blathering never-any-news hacks lose their balance and sink
to
outright abuse and get suspended. They never forget which candidate we all
have the agreement to abuse, though.

If he gets in and we have Deval II, the do-nothing sort-of-black governor
of
Massachusetts, the entire planet or at least the part outside the US, that
keeps accurate track of news events, will be horrified that after two
terms of
a disoriented immature candidate promoted by the greedheads he serves, the
supposedly opposite party forced in a NEW disoriented immature candidate.

But at least we haven't had to face and learn the lessons of history,
right?
So we can just keep repeating them, I mean most of US are well off, WE
aren't
losing our homes OR delusions.

Four more years of a different-looking disoriented immature candidate with
no
resum‚ and no indication he knows anything about the job!

We saw what a snap it was when Reagan slept through it and the current
pseudo-in***bent spent most of his terms pretending to clear brush on his
pretend farm before going back indoors to be waited on by his many
servants.

We can shove any dufus into the presidency and we might have another
million
innocent people's blood on our hands,
but at least we can just slumber on like Ronnie before us.

The big thing is NEVER, NEVER to wake up and FACE anything that might
prove a
downer at the party and throw off the taste of the beer or vodka.

What's that Jefferson's saying? Oh, yes, what a bummer.

justice cannot sleep forever."

Since Hillary's opponents cannot claim that Obama is the better candidate
they
resort to simple name calling. Also it is easier for them to justify
behaving

It's about time someone said enough is enough! The level of venom from
these
media outlets lately has been totally intolerable. Typically, its just
Faux
News that does it. But MSNBC now spews it. And its spread to other areas.

We need to start enforcing some regulations on the amount of crap that
p*****
for "news" in the media these days. Commentary is opinion, but news should
be
"real news" not someone's commentary disguised as news.

This person throwing insulting remarks on the airwaves against a sitting
Senator should be responsible for her language. Public speaking and
Freedom of
Speech is one thing, but derogatory remarks and defamation of character
are
usually criminally actionable.

Protect our Freedom of Speech, by keeping that speech within acceptable
levels. Going nuclear on someone should get you the door in the media
outlets.

Randi Rhodes was suspended for the wrong reason. The reason she should
have
been taken off the air is she is boring. Once she jumped on the Obama
bandwagon her show became nothing but Obama spin. In her show Obama is all
that is good and Hillary is all that is bad. An all-spin show is simply
unbearable. She was emulating Limbaugh in playing to an audience of "ditto

Saying or doing anything, no matter how wrong, for the sake of a reward,
in
this case the presidency, is a form of prostitution, and that's what Randi
Rhodes was pointing out.

Here's how CNN re****ted it:

Pledged delegates up for grabs, Clinton says
From Rebecca Sinderbrand
CNN
WA****NGTON (CNN) - For the second time in three days, Sen. Hillary Clinton
told re****ters that the pledged delegates awarded based on vote totals in
their state are not bound to abide by election results.

It's an idea that has been floated by her or a campaign surrogate nearly
half
a dozen times this month.

Sen. Barack Obama leads Clinton among all Democratic delegates, 1,622 to
1,485, in the latest CNN count. Among pledged delegates, Obama leads
Clinton
1,413 to 1,242.

"Every delegate with very few exceptions is free to make up his or her
mind
however they choose," Clinton told Time's Mark Halperin in an interview
published Wednesday.

"We talk a lot about so-called pledged delegates, but every delegate is
expected to exercise independent judgment," she said.

Granted, Randi's commentary was a bit more crass, but that doesn't make it
wrong.

That's Patriotic Dissent. But as soon as she bad-mouths a Clinton, she

Seems our Randi has an incomplete understanding of the concept. Do not
ever,
in whatever context, in any venue, radio talk show, standup routine in a
comedy club, or even in private conversation over drinks with friends,
insult
Mrs Clinton. This is not permitted in a democratic society, and don't
start
trying to hide behind First Amendment nonsense. That sort of thing is
non-applicable in this case. Few people have a problem with calling George
Bush, Dick Cheney, et al, nasty names, but when you do the same to
Hillary,
you have crossed the line and you put your career at risk. What she said
about
Mrs Clinton is deplorable and should be publicly denounced. Randi Rhodes
should make a public confession and be made to submit to a long regime of
sensitivity training. After sufficient reducation, she should be allowed
back
on the air, but only for a few minutes per hour, until she has
demonstrated
the proper and correct line toward Mrs Clinton.

1) Funny how nobody at Air America - or the democratic party - ever said
anything when she went after Bush and Cheney with the same kind of
vitriol.

2) As this wasn't said on the air - it was at a stand up comedy show in
San
Francisco - it almost seems as if she might have a 1st amendment lawsuit
against Air America. You can't fire somebody for things they express
outside
of work. (But you can fire somebody for saying stuff on the air. Contrary
to
all the misconceptions, that's not first amendment. It's regulated
commercial
speech, with all sorts of enforceable morals clauses.)

3) I'm a democrat. I'm voting for Hillary. I disagree with what Rhodes
said,
but I'm also an absolutist on the first amendment. And this really does
strike
me as some kind of liberal fascism, on the part of Air America and Mark

I really have enjoyed Randi's Bush ba****ng over the last couple of years,
but
her show has become unlistenable over the past 2 months because of her
relentless, one-sided, vicious Hillary-hating and flat lying to push Obama
to
be president. The fact that Obama has less experience in significant
positions
than ANY NOMINEE IN AMERICAN HISTORY? Rhodes cannot allow anyone calling
in to
her show to state this fact, because they must be racist or some kind of
set-up by the Clinton campaign, according to her. It escapes her that the
caller just might be saying this BECAUSE ITS TRUE!

Same thing if someone tries to say Obama might be unelectable. Polls show
Obama would probably lose Ohio, Florida, and Michigan in the general
election
against McCain, while Hillary would win 2 out of 3. Kerry lost 2 out of 3
and
he therefore lost the election by 8 electoral votes. Democrats who ignore
these facts better start getting used to saying "President McCain"in 292
days.
Yet, if someone tries to state these facts on Rhode's show, they are a
racist.
Incredible.

sozzi:

(1) Spelling matters. Deliberately misspelling names does not make you
look
clever, and doing it by accident makes you look worse than not clever.

(2) There is a difference between being suspended or fired for having a
difference of opinion versus being suspended or fired for being VULGAR and
HATE-FILLED.

(3) There is a line between expressing opinion as a personal right versus
expressing opinion that affects your employer. Sometimes, folks are NOT
allowed to express themselves if that expression flies in the face of
their
employer's mission. Sometimes, folks are NOT allowed to have differences
of
opinions when they represent the company. [e.g., A re****ter for CNN cannot
go
on the air and praise FOX news (or in any venue). A writer for the
Catholic
Digest cannot praise abortion in his articles (or in a private setting).]

(3) You need to learn how to tell the difference between DIFFERENCE OF
OPINION
and VULGAR, HATE-FILLED WORDS. You may HATE the "right" that Rush Limbaugh
represents, but you will NEVER hear him utter a vulgar, hate-filled, or ad
hominem word against anyone. You will be confused until you learn to
understand the difference. IOW, if you can disagree, and be polite, you
will
be OK, it is NEVER OK to be rude. Ms. Rhodes expresses her RUDENESS every
day
of her life. When she adds VULGAR and HATE-FILLED to RUDE, she becomes
unbearable. So, she was let go.

(4) Rush is NEVER rude, and NEVER vulgar, and NEVER hate-filled. Yes, he
has a
difference of opinion, but he expresses himself with grace. And, he treats
others with the utmost respect. That is why he makes $MILLIONS$. Listen to
him
and find out how darn polite he is. He even puts on folks who disagree and
is
polite to them. Randi Rhodes can't even be polite to those with whom she
agrees!

"A professional politician is a professionally dishonorable man (woman).
In
order to get anywhere near high office he (she) has to make so many
compromises and submit to so many humiliations that he (she) becomes

Too Many Rhymers and not Enough Rhymes
This was a golden op****tunity. Once upon a time, there were several good
candidates and after a couple of primaries two were left. They would have
been
able to challenge themselves and in turn each other with issues that would
have been relevant to the people that there were slated to serve. Instead,
those who stood on soapboxes and should have been more responsible
manipulated
and hijacked the election by not having debates that are fair and balanced
and
intelligent. The acted as though something as significant as an election
has
the same substance as material for Entertainment Tonight or a reality TV
show.
There are too many inexperienced and not so knowledgeable political
pundits
out there who use this primary as an op****tunity to get themselves
noticed.
They are like a glut of waiters waiting to be actors, or the generals who
come
out to play on TV when a war has started. They abuse, disrespect
candidates
and evidently insult the electorate intelligence. If this primary was
allowed
to go on fair and square then the public would have benefited and the
country
would have been better off by having the best candidate from the
Republican
and or Democratic Party selected and then able to face each other in
November.
It seems that no one looked at the jobless rate today or the billions
borrowed
from China and the Middle East, or the housing crisis, or why is it only
now
that men and some women who have been in the house and senate for so many
moons and are significant contributors to the mess the country is in now
are
acting like newcomers and are presenting the a 2 year senator to save us
fro their incompetence. Maybe they should get out of the race.

Really, what's all this fuss about free expression and the First Amendment
anyway? We all know these concepts are subordinate to some
hyperventilating
"progressive's" sense of "appropriate, acceptable discourse".

On the other hand, Air America is a commercial enterprise that chooses to
be
mindful of the "sensitivities" of its audience and sponsors. So it fires a
hostess that offends both. That would be free enterprise.

Randi is now free to seek other outlets for her particular brand of
lunatic
fringe leftism. Sirius 146 and it's 132 nightly listeners, for example.

Unlike virtually all the posters here, I actually attended the event at
the
old Mabuhay Gardens/On-Broadway club. My wife and I flew into SF for the
weekend to attend the event and spend time in the city where we met and
fell
in love in 1989. I personally witnessed the event and nothing she said in
her
half-hour stand-up routine was in anyway factually untrue. when I see Mrs.
Clinton genuflecting before the altars of Faux News, Rupert Murdoch,
Richard
Mellon Scaife and their media henchmen, What am I supposed to call her?

It's a closer, meaner political world thanks to the Republican Party, the
Bush
Administration and their media enablers above. I have no problems calling
the
Bush administration traitors and war criminals because they ARE. If Ms.
Rhodes
chooses to tell the corresponding truth about Ms. Clinton in a stand-up
act,
not on the air, during a benefit appearance for an AAR affiliate, before
an
enthusiatically sup****tive sold-out house, I have no problem with that
either.

If Ms. Rhodes wishes to become the Kyosaku or Stick of Awakening of Radio,

me as
a kind of left-wing Limbaugh, so full or herself and absolutely certain in
her
opinions, that she allows no room for dissent. I will vote for either
Clinton
or Obama gladly as either is so much better than McCain, but vilifying
Hillary

Air America is a private employer, and is entitled to make whatever
personnel
decisions, however motivated, it wants. If you don't like their decisions,
don't listen and tell their advertisers why.

Randi has a right to say whatever she wants. There may be consequences for
it,
and she should be ready to suffer damage or praise on account of them, and
consider her speech accordingly (hello, Dixie Chicks!). I don't listen,
but
can anyone really say that this speech, aimed at conservatives, wouldn't
be
welcomed and praised? And that this sort of speech and worse isn't vented
by
the left ALL THE TIME about Bush (and soon McCain)? I wasn't there, but
some
posters have alluded to just as nasty things being said about McCain and
Bush,
and she's not being censured for THAT. So it's not vulgar and
inappropriate
speech, it's vulgar and inappropriate speech against a liberal (think of
what
would have happened had she said equivalent things about Obama).

On November 1st, think back to Rhodes' remarks, and compare them to what
the
left has said about McCain. I predict with great comfort that Randi's talk
will seem mild.

The stations that air Limbaugh/Hannity/etc are playing those shows because
they attract listeners. As long as L&H&Co don't alienate their audience,
they
can say just about anything they want. Speech codes seem to be on the
left, or
maybe it's just that the L&H&Co are also in it for the money and monitor
(censor?) themselves accordingly.

Americans as a whole would do much better to keep the discourse civil. If
I
said "fornicate you", you all know what I said and the common translation
of
my comment, but I haven't been course enough to use the vulgar word. But
much,
much better if I didn't even go there and used my speech to work to
heighten
the level of speech instead of bringing it down.

Generally in an arguement, if you have facts, you use them. If you are
name-calling, you've run out of facts that sup****t your side.

Randi probably shouldn't have said these things, or said the same things
is a
less vulgar way (which often is funnier, anyway). But the real takeaway is
that equally bad speech was aimed at conservatives which Air America
management has no problem with. It wasn't what she said, it was who it was
aimed at. And that should tell people everything about Air America they
need
to know.

It is typical of the far left to villify and demean their opposition
rather
than to intellectually debate issues. However, here, we have a female
liberal
attcking another female liberal by the use of a ***ist pejoritive term not

JOKES; it
ain't for political education. Let the preliminaries play out, it's good
for
the entire country to hear and question these folks who want to be our
next
president, let's don't stop `em.

I have listened to Randi since the first days of Air America and have long
respected the way she combines down to earth humor with solid information
to
educate her audience, but lately,I have not been able to listen to her
daily
vitriol against Hillary Clinton. It saddened me to hear her legitimate
concerns with and criticisms of Clinton campaign tactics, many of which I
share, degenerate into a daily demonization of all things Clinton. This is
neither constructive or instructive and does nothing to foster party
unity,
which we are going to need more than ever come fall and the general
election.
I am as critical of Hillary and baffled by the choices she has made
lately,
but calling her a whore is offensive to me. Moreover,it distracts us from
the
real villains out there, the Bush administration and the Republicans who
continue to sup****t their failed policies.

yes, this was a stand up routine, but it was sponcered and paid for by AAR
affiliates. That is why the suspension, and quite honestly, she should be
terminated and off the air.If it works to run Imus away than good enough
for
her too.The level of discourse on the far left is out of control, and this
from
the party that is going to bring us all together.for what.a hate filled
rant
from a hate-America loon.I think not.She has been caught numerous times
flat
out lying on air and the truth is a stranger to her completely.Good
Riddance
to you and the sooner the dem party wakes up and distances itself from
this
type of person the better.

Regarding Ferraro . Obama made the exact same comment about himself
several
years earlier that Ferraro made this year ! It's included in a newspaper
article about him on his own senate web site ! He said be benefitted from
his
race, that he would not have had a book deal or even been elected had he
been
white. How hypocritical of him to then go on to complain about Ferraro's
statement !

As for Rhodes, she's just another Dem who has decided it's best to split
the
party apart instead of be respectful of both candidates. She and Olbermann
and
plenty of others are engaging in worse Hillary ba****ng than the
Republicans !
I'm sure the Republican leader****p is having a field day watching this go
on,
they don't have to spend any money or make any statements, Obama, his
lackies,
and the "liberal media" are doing all of the work for them. Good job,
idiot
Dems !

Quote from commenter here:
"There is so much Hillary-ba****ng in the press that my friends and I - all
democrats - have started tuning in to Rush Limbaugh and Fox News to get
some
balanced view of the race."

Yes, another person realizing that this propaganda being jammed down our
throats has reached a level of disgust. I used to watch some of the far
left
liberal media, but they have become so obnoxious and so blatantly vial you
can't tell if what they say is a lie or the truth anymore. Keith Olberman
and
Matthews are becoming turnoffs to many people.

They have been caught in so many distortions of the facts that it now
makes
Fox News look like a bright beacon in the darkness by comparison. CNN at
least
tries to have some decorum in their coverage and only people like Carville
and
Lanny Davis bring their low road slime attacks as Davis use to call it
'slime'
when the attacks were against Hillary. Now the pot is calling the kettle
black.

I'm sorry far left Liberals, but you are causing all this destruction of
the
public trust all by yourselves to yourselves. Far left Liberals can't
blame
Bush or Wright or Obama or Limbaugh or anyone else but yourselves. And
that IS
the truth. What you need to do is start acting like mature adults.

Now watch . I'll probably get attacked using a bunch of four letter words
telling me what a far right wing Neo-Con I am, but I'm not a Republican.
I'm
an Independent who can think for myself and I don't need to be vial or
swear
or slime to get my point across, and I don't tow anyone's party line.

The president relies on intel this was where the fault should lie..by the

If a Randi Rhodes gets suspended from Air America, and no one is around to
hear, does it make a sound? Or rather.does it make a difference?

If you need something to be outraged about, try the war (and those who
authorized it). Remember that when you go to vote. 4012

It doesn't surprise me. When Air America was on in my part of Ca., I
listened
to her show now and then. Almost every time I heard her show, she would
say
something incredibly stupid. I mean every time. I've listened to many talk
shows and in my opinion, she is the dumbest person I've ever heard on the
radio. I'm surprised anyone listens to her. And if you listen to her on a
regular basis, I hope you see the light some day and realise how ignorant
this
woman really is.

I regularly listen to Rhodes and Air America. Thier hosts on a daily basis
spew venom and hate and lies. I have heard Rhodes and other hosts wish
death
upon republicans and conservatives they disagree with. They are far worse
then
anything Limbaugh has ever said.

I KNEW IT! I stopped listening to Randi some months back because as an
avid
Talk Radio listener, she is DEFINATELY the most annoying and whiny talk
show
host I have ever heard in my many years of listening and that includes
listening to the weirdest looking guy I have ever seen on TV-Alan Combs.

GREAT MOVE AIR AMERICA! I even fanatasized about buying Air America just
to
replace her- if that tells you how strong my feelings are against her
product.
I love listening to Big Ed Schultz though.

For once the left and right are in agreement.

None of us can stand Randi Rhodes.

None of us want to hear any more of her foul-mouthed tirades.

That woman made a mistake in attacking both the left and the right and
putting
all of her eggs in the Obama basket.

to
get away with it in her own party. Oh Im sorry the Clinton Party.

Very interesting discourse. I have listened to Randi for a long time, and
I
know that she is very passionate about her opinions. Though her words were
no
doubt vulgar, this was not a stump speech, radio broadcast, TV interview,
or
any other thing of the kind. This was a stand-up comedy routine. I can't
decide which group is more pathetic - the Republicans who read the NY
Times
and are writing comments to this article to express their outrage that
someone
could co-opt their hate-speech, or the indignant HillBots who can't
believe
that a woman could "betray them so."

Where is the indignation over Geraldine Ferraro's statement that
(parphrased)
".if Barack Obama weren't a black man, he wouldn't be in this position."?
It's
hard to imagine a statement more racist that does not contain the
"N-word."

How about John McCain's statement about Chelsea Clinton during the 2000
primary, ".no wonder Chelsea is so ugly.Janet Reno is her father!"

How about Bill Clinton's suggestions that Barack Obama 's victory in SC
was to
be expected because Jesse Jackson carried that state in `96?

How about the fact that GWB has demonstrably committed dozens of counts of
treason against the United States, not the least of which include many
instances of falsifying evidence before Congress, and outing an undercover
CIA
agent?

How about evidence that the White House and Pentagon directly authorized
the
use of torture , in contravention of the Geneva Conventions, international
treaties, and US laws?

How about the fact that John McCain, himself a victim of torture and
confessor
to war crimes, sup****ts the policy of torture, sup****ts another unprovoked
attack on a sovereign nation in direct contravention of the UN charter,
has
committed Federal election fraud and has no idea who we're fighting in
Iraq or
why?

Righteous indignation over Randi Rhoades?? If this gets people fired up
more
than what I've listed, then this country will get what it deserves, sooner
rather than later.

Air America has every right to suspend her. I am only guessing that the
event
was advertised as "Come see radio talk show host Randi Rhodes.", not "come
and
see the stand up comedy of Randi Rhodes.".
She is a low class punk that only insults people to mask the fact that she

Rhodes is typical of what has become of the Democratice Party. Vile.
Lieberman
says he didn't leave the party, the party left me. Ronald Reagan Dennis
Prager
and others have said it too. I hope that those with an open mind can now
see
who is the most racist, prejudiced, dirtiest, and mean spirited of the two
parties. The Dems are fixated on race and class warfare. Voucher's no way.
Let's keep the blacks and hispanics in their place. The Dems thrive on
victimhood. Look at recent drop out rates in the 50 largest cities. Which
party do you think is in charge of those cities. The Dems of course. The
Dems
blocked every effort to reform the Social Security System. That's even
after
one of their most respected senators, Patrick Moyinhan said it was of
critical
im****tance. The Dems don't want you controlling some of your own
retirement
contributions. They would rather have black Americans, who die at the
average
age of 65, never collect a penny and have nothing to pass along to their
heirs. I live in CA and we are broke again. Population up one percent
since
2003 but spending is up 30%+. The State, LA and SF all controlled by the
Dems.
Our Gov is a RINO and married to a Kennedy. Need I say more. Do you really
want the Dems in charge of Congress and the WH? Hold your wallets. I say
this
realizing GW never vetoed a budget until recently. I'm not a pollyanna. We
should really vote out all in***bents who only plan their next re-election
and
who don't watch out for the taxpayers.
Who consistently votes against nuclear power (the cleanest and most
polution
free source of energy). France is 80% Nuclear. The Dems lie about Yucca
Mountain to gain votes in Nevada. They lie about Nafta to gain votes while
their minions tell Canada and Mexico not to worry, Nafta is hear to stay.
The
Dems vote against drilling for our own oil using technology that leaves
lttle
impact on the enviroment. Forget wind power off Cape Cod. It may spoil
Teddy's
view. Let's just keep providing billions of dollars to the very people
that
want us destroyed. Can you say Chavez and Acmedineajad. Get real. This
isn't a
perfect world. No one person can bring us all together. We need strong
leader****p that can have the stregth of their convictions without bending
to
the latest poll numbers. I'll pass on "feelings" and look at the facts.
The
moderate Dems will be doing the same.

Hi, Ishmael from the RRMB here. Just stopped by to lend my sup****t to
Randi in
light of her JIVE suspension. Janet and I attended the show in SF and saw
it
LIVE. She's targeted for telling the truth, plain and simple.

So I leave this quote from Father Mapple's Sermon in Moby Dick to my
****pmate
Randi Rhodes.

"And Jonah, bruised and beaten, his ears, like two sea shells, still
multitudinously murmuring of the ocean, Jonah did the almighty's bidding.
And
what was that, ****pmates? To preach the TRUTH in the face of FALSEHOOD.

Now ****pmates, woe to him who seeks to pour oil on the troubled waters
after
God has brewed them into a gale.
Yea, woe to him who, as the Pilot Paul has it, while preaching to others,
is
himself a castaway. How delight is to Him who, against the proud Gods and
Commodores of this Earth, stands forth his own inexorable self. who
destroys
all sin, though he pluck it out from under the robes of SENATORS and
JUDGES.
And eternal delight shall be his who, coming to lay him down, can say; Oh,
Father, mortal or immortal, here I die. I have striven to be thine more
than
this world's or mine own. Yet this is nothing, I leave eternity to thee.
For
what is man, that he should live out the lifetime of his God?"

we need a president who understands the constitution & the bill of rights
-
because freedom of speech is DEAD in this country

I saw the video of this that someone likely took on their telephone - and
she
was doing a stand up monologue - she wasn't on the air - this wasn't in
public

I didn't like some of what she said - but it's her right to say it in a
private function

If someone didn't like the performance they could have walked out

BIG BROTHER - bring back that Obama video of the Mac Ad -

This is getting a little scary

she
remained professional. She stooped too low. Totally appropriate for
