We lost the argument but decided that the project of making Marxist
writings available was more im****tant than standing in splendid
isolation on a purist platform.
Initially we were also strongly in favour of teh binary classification
into Marxists and non-Marxists - particularly because we wanted to make
sure taht neither Stalin or Mao was presented as being the epitome of
Marxism. We eventually - somewhat reluctantly - accepted the current
compromise because we now felt that the point had been made and that
there was no longer any danger that Stalin or Mao would be promoted as
being the best thing since sliced bread.
We aren't and never were dogmatists. We've always been prepared to work
alongside other forces moving in the same direction in various campaigns
and projects such as MIA.
