OK, that is an argument you can have with Walters, but not with me. I 
am not obsessed by size, and he can speak for himself on this point.

If the AWL description is accurate, it is not really a position but 
moralistic inertia and indifference to Marxist theory. And something 
that will surely Go Away as a result of their decision to bloc with 
the French Socialist Party.

As for the Lambertistes, that is another matter. Lambert's very 
Deutscherite assertion in September of 1991 that capitalist 
restoration would be *impossible* was a great justification for their 
sup****t of the "democratic" movement behind Yeltsin.

It tells you nothing about what their position is now. They are not LO 
and they have surely changed their analysis since 1991, whether or not 
they have changed their "position," which was really not a position 
but a prognosis, and one that now is obviously wrong.

In September 1991, the Spartacists didn't think it was a capitalist 
state either.
