Sure, and the Little Red Book was a handy pocket book of Machiallian
like aphorism not an obscure tome
of theory.
Well, as to the OCI and the WRL, sectarian groups, neither of which I
ever had much use for, I couldn't really comment except that both
those groups had a history of abstaining from real struggles, the OCI
from the great upheavals in France in May-June 1968. Then of course
there's Healy's completely missing the boat on Cuba.
Thus, even if we assume that someone needs to study advanced theory in
the nature of higher mathmatics, we need-as in the real of theoretical
science (like "string theory")- to judge its level of its validity by
the results of whatever concrete applications its proponents have made
to factual reality. Thus, leaving aside, whether there is a
intellectual serious branch of logic (as opposed to social science)
called "dialectical materialism", one has difficulty not viewing the
philosophical ruminations of the Healyites, as most people on the Left
did, as a sanctimonious and pretentious mish mash of a smokescreen for
abstentionism, only vaguely understood even by its proponents, that
only tended to impress the naive and gullible.
