What to say if accused of being a "socialist"
When you use the term "socialism", do you meant socialist ideals or
socialist practice? Indeed, I am a fan of the former. Jesus, Hermes,
Buddha, Mohammed all held ideals which could be deemed "socialist".
Brotherhood, equality etc, what's wrong with that?.
However, socialist practise is a different matter. The conservative
criticism of the lack of self-reliance of socialists is a fair one. My
previous post is a criticism of exactly that!
YES, we need more equality!
YES, we need more freedom!
YES, we need peace!
YES, we need an end to poverty!
BUT, Whilst a reasonably competent government can help, it is only US,
THE PEOPLE ourselves who can bring this about by our OWN actions and
words!
