Re: Eastman's guide to bringing critical 911 facts to the world's attention

don't write population off as apathetic or ignorant
-- Donna's letter to Martha

Martha, you hit the nail on the head. Just because people aren't
actively "doing something" out in the open doesn't mean that they
don't care or are dis-interested. I had a long conversation with
someone yesterday about apathy...Is it apathy that is causing
inaction - or something else? My theory is that, as you suggested,
people are worried about showing up on some intelligence radar or are
worried about being a victim of some sort of "accident" or something
of that nature. (Paul Wellstone is an example of someone in Congress
who spoke his mind about global cor****atization and the war on Iraq -
Well, he spoke his mind for a while, that is). We've been pretty
well "conditioned" since 9/11 to fear - and in this case, there is,
rather sadly, legitimized fear of one's own government (Unfortunate
that the ones we're paying to represent us and keep us safe are the
very ones we've actually come to fear).

Anyway, just because the truth activists aren't en masse in the
streets doesn't mean that they're not acting quietly behind the
scenes creating a very soft persuasive "impression" wherever they
go. Sometimes, as you say, all it takes is a really great thought-
provoking question or two to get another person to start thinking up
a new alley. It all started somewhere with any person who learns
about a cover-up. One person will say something, and then it doesn't
get rememembered or even paid attention to until another brings it up
and another and ... then all of a sudden, the person realizes that
this is a pretty widely held "theory" and the individual starts
looking into it for him/herself.

Right now a good percentage of America realizes that the entire
government system is broken. But they don't (yet) know what to do.
Few are willing to die as in past bloody revolutions - but, like you
say, Martha, when things get bad enough (and enough economists are
predicting it will), or when another 9/11 just-so-happens-to-happen
to justify a draft and more wars... maybe then the citizens will
become so angry that they risk life and limb to safeguard their own
well-being.

But like my friend astutely observes, most people don't act until
something bad enough happens to them or to those they love.

And addressing the entire war issue is a good way to get people
talking. Because it is 9/11, after all, that began the entire war on
terror (now called war on tyranny). So it is a topic that leads so
easily into that discussion about what caused these wars, anyway?

PS - As rumour would have it, I've caught wind that some 9/11
questions will be asked at this "progressive" conference in DC.
Wonder what John Edwards and Al Gore might know? It should be an
interesting event, I would imagine:
