warning: Zeitgist Films "The Cor****ation" leaves out role of financial
sector and denies conspiracy
==========================
The documentary "The Cor****ation; a film by Mark Achbar, Jennifer Abbott
and Joel Bakan" to be released on DVD at video stores Tuesday is very
good
as far as it goes. I recommend it as an expose of globalization --
except
for two serious flaws.
The first is that it examines the psychopathic behavior of cor****ations,
but
leaves the financial sector and the monetary system alone. The second is
that it explains cor****ation behavior as the result of impersonal market
and
institutional forces, as structural imperfection in the economy and not as
the deliberate course set by powerful financiers who buy government and
legislation according to their own plans for the world's future.
The film is -- in the language of 911 invesitgators -- pure LIHOP (let it
happen on purpose), rather than MIHOP (made it happen on purpose) -- the
difference between neglecting to stop what institutional flaws permit,
versus a conspiracy to bring about a specific designed effect.
It is no accident that Michael Moore is in the film. Most of what he says
makes sense -- but when he says that the reason he is allowed to make his
films is that the film makers just care about making box office profits
from
a film people will see -- he is dead wrong. Hollywood almost never
operates
at the behest of the film consumer. What Michael Moore sold Eisner when
he
made Fairenheit 911 was a LIHOP explanation of 9/11 -- that would serves
as
a substitute to crowd out the actual MIHOP turth.
And Michael Moore is joining Achbar, Abbott and Bakan in doing the same
thing here.
So let me say it for all readers to remember:
All history, sociology, economics that explains major economic events
without conspiracy (i.e., without the secret controlling decisions of the
most powerful men behind the scenes) is mere cover-up and claptrap.
"The Cor****ation" makes it sound like all you have to do is change the
legal
structure (cor****ation legal personhood etc.) and various underpinning
laws
(like the Supreme Court decision that genetic structures can be patented
and
privately owned as soon as they are isolated) and that would take care of
the harmful behavior of cor****ations. This is hogwash. Lawyer capitalism
can find endless loopholes and big money can buy legal recognition of the
principle. Legal reform cannot go against the wishes of networking
billionaires and trillionaires. There has to be a mass uprising that
criminalizes the very existence of private individuals with such massive
wealth and political and social-control power. The entire world must rise
up as that little village in Mexico did when there was an attempt to
"privatize" their water!!! (described in the film)
This is not to say that the makers of this film are evil -- they are
obviously right on -- however, like Michael Moore being bankrolled by
Eisner -- the funds would not have come to them for such an expensive
production had not their content been LIHOP -- showing cor****ation CEOs
and
major stock holders -- the Big Business elite -- as misguided people who
don't know any better.
