Agreed that it is time to quit arguing about what should be done, and go
on and figure out what will be done, whether we like it or not. Agreed
that writing those in the power structure is hopeless. So is writing to
the media. There isnt even much hope that this post will do anyone any
good, but FWIW:

You need a lot more than your rifle. Even with a firearm, there will be
lots of folks killed by RPGs, smart bombs, and bio/chemical weaponry.

I have lived in the Ozarks for most of the last 35 years, and I see the
change going on in my neck of woods. Early retirees are moving in ASAP.
They have hired real estate, bankers, contractors, carpenters, and even
landscaping, or maybe farm scaping, cause a lot of it is dozer work.

I really dont know that the economy will crash; I see a very small slice
of it, which arguably is booming because there are lots of people who
think that it will. They dont seem any crazier than those who stayed in
the metro areas. Most of them were upper middle class with careers in
transnats and government. Now, they are trying to learn how to garden,
and doing it in real bad dirt. The Searcy County Soil Survey book shows
29 different kinds of soils, from upland ridgetop sandy loam to bottom
land gravel or acid clay forested slope, but it dont list the most
common variety of all: Played out Cotton.

I was born on a farm in 1939, and have lived to see much of the change
in the way food is grown, and know damn well that if the economy tanks,
the banks wont be lending the money to transnat agribusiness to put in
another crop. When I was born on the farm, 25% of Americans still lived
there, and I saw my cousins move in droves to california factory jobs.
Their kids, and 97% of the population of the United States of Denial
have no ****ing clue how to grow their own food, and the 3% who still
live in rural areas aint much better off. There's lotsa redneck truck
drivers who use the central US location as a home base; others work in
the tourism, and some commute 100 miles to work in Little Rock.

I dont have as much time to post these days; I'm part of the 1% of the
population involved in putting in a garden; I can grow enuf food for
me and mine, but you all will havta fight with your rifles for the
food you can find, without killing the guys like me who know how to
grow the food you want to eat- *next* year.
