Handsome, intelligent, charismatic, blessed with a golden tongue, and
irresistible to his besotted followers, Elmer Gantry =E2=80=93 the title
character of Sinclair Lewis=E2=80=99s 1927 novel =E2=80=93 inspired his
supp=
orters to
swoon, indeed faint, at his seductive oratory. He told them they were
=E2=80=9Csinners,=E2=80=9D then gave them =E2=80=9Chope=E2=80=9D that they
c=
ould =E2=80=9Cchange=E2=80=9D if they
would only follow his path to redemption. As it turned out, Gantry was
a fraud =E2=80=93 a sinner himself =E2=80=93 ultimately exposed and
discredi=
ted.
=E2=80=9CThat=E2=80=99s not fair!=E2=80=9D liberals protest.
=E2=80=9CGantry=
was fictional.=E2=80=9D True, but
he is a character that resonated with the reading public because he
was instantly recognizable as so many of the frauds in their lives.
Just like Svengali, the fictional character in George du Maurier=E2=80=99s
novel, Trilby. To this day, a =E2=80=9CSvengali=E2=80=9D is known as
someone=
who
manipulates others into doing his bidding. Sound familiar?
Let=E2=80=99s move on to a real person, this one strikingly good-looking,
eloquent, highly educated, and a magnetic charmer who entranced not
one but dozens if not hundreds of people to =E2=80=9Cbelieve=E2=80=9D in
him=
.. Here was
a man who convinced numerous college-admission professionals to
welcome him into the higher halls of academe, as did the employers who
trusted in and were rewarded by his work ethic. That is not to omit
the dozens of women who were bedazzled by the allure of Ted Bundy, but
who the beguiling sociopath savagely murdered.
Like Barack Obama, Bundy was raised by a single, =E2=80=9Ctypical white
woman.=E2=80=9D But unlike Bundy, Barack has a much larger agenda. It is,
in=
my opinion, to use his good looks, Ivy-League credentials, verbal
skills, and personal magnetism to murder America itself! To rail with
his oh-so-moderate voice against the bedrocks of our country =E2=80=93 the
Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the capitalism that drives our
nation=E2=80=99s immense wealth, the military that protects our freedoms
=E2=
=80=93 in
order to fulfill his Marxist dream of reversing the exceptionalism
that is America itself!
=E2=80=9CThat=E2=80=99s not fair,=E2=80=9D liberals screech.
=E2=80=9CHe=E2=
=80=99s such a goooood person!=E2=80=9D
Let=E2=80=99s turn to Grigori Rasputin, the Russian mystic known to have
hel=
d
hypnotic influence over Tsar Nicholas II and his wife, the Tsarina
Alexandra, after he =E2=80=9Chealed=E2=80=9D their son Alexei. Alexandra
cam=
e to
believe that God spoke to her through Rasputin. Ultimately, Rasputin
was thought to be responsible for discrediting the tsarist government
he pretended to defend and bringing about the fall of the Romanov
dynasty in 1917. He was murdered in 1916 and history has by-and-large
recorded him as the very emodiment of a charlatan.
=E2=80=9CThat=E2=80=99s not fair!=E2=80=9D liberals whine. =E2=80=9CThat
was=
then, this is now.=E2=80=9D
Okay, how about =E2=80=9Cnow!=E2=80=9D Who can forget Jim Jones and his
Peop=
les Temple
(of doom)? Using his rugged good looks, powers of persuasion, and faux-
messianic message, which included =E2=80=9Capostolic socialism,=E2=80=9D
he =
convinced
his followers to move from San Francisco to Guyana, where, upon being
investigated by the U.S. for human-rights abuses, he urged his 900
infatuated followers to imbibe a cyanide-laced drink (the famous Kool-
Aid) that resulted in their ghastly deaths.
All of these men =E2=80=93 the fictional Elmer Gantry and Svengali and the
very real Ted Bundy, Rasputin, and Jim Jones (and I didn=E2=80=99t even
include David Koresh and Mussolini, among others) share startling and
disturbing similarities with Barack Obama. They all had charm,
eloquence, a =E2=80=9Cmessage=E2=80=9D that was irresistible to their
acolyt=
es, and a
peerless way of camouflaging their real goals until after their
victims were hooked!
After the hooking, however, their lust for total control of =E2=80=9Cthe
m*****=E2=80=9D =E2=80=93 that they really had deep contempt for and
fervent=
ly
believed were too stupid to determine their own fates =E2=80=93 took hold.
A=
ll
of these slippery charm-purveyors turned out to be monumental phonies
and devastating oppressors of the gullible and needy people they
preyed upon.
Guilt by Association
If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck=E2=80=A6you know the rest.
Obama=
wants us to believe that he has the judgment =E2=80=93 his word =E2=80=93

nominated yet! What next can we expect from this smooth-talking, self-
described agent of =E2=80=9Cchange=E2=80=9D if he captures the presidency?

Today, like yesterday, examples abound of other =E2=80=9Cleaders=E2=80=9D

=E2=80=93 who use their verbal skills, charisma, and appetite for power to
dupe their followers into believing that they are the way and the
light. But as in Fidel Castro=E2=80=99s Cuba and Hugo Chavez=E2=80=99s
Venez=
uela, it=E2=80=99s
those very followers who end up being tyrannized by the failed Marxist
policies that strip them of their freedoms and render them
impoverished, hungry, and risking their lives to escape =E2=80=93 legally
or=
illegally =E2=80=93 to America=E2=80=99s shores.
By the way, Castro and Chavez have heartily endorsed Obama, as has the
current president of Nicaragua, the Marxist Daniel Ortega. And you can
bet if the Marxist Che Guevara were alive =E2=80=93 as his poster image is
i=
n
one of Obama=E2=80=99s campaign headquarters =E2=80=93 he too would climb
ab=
oard this
ignominious bandwagon. Did I leave out Hamas=E2=80=99s de facto
endorsement =

Obama or that Obama=E2=80=99s church reprinted the terrorist
group=E2=80=99s=
manifesto?
As to the poster, Obama said it was okay, no need to take it down. As
to the Hamas Manifesto on his church=E2=80=99s website =E2=80=93 that
compar=

for the murder of Jews to America=E2=80=99s Declaration of Independence
=E2=
=80=93
Obama said, in essence: I didn=E2=80=99t know nuthin=E2=80=99 about it!
Just=
like in
20 years of attending the Trinity United Church of Christ, he
didn=E2=80=99t=
hear nuthin=E2=80=99 that his anti-American, anti-Semitic pastor ever
said!
Damn the Flag Pin and National Anthem
Finally, there is the real question of Obama=E2=80=99s patriotism. Okay,
he
doesn=E2=80=99t like wearing a flag pin. Maybe it=E2=80=99s because he
doesn=
=E2=80=99t want to
puncture the fabric of the pricey suits he can now afford, given that
his 2006 federal tax return revealed he and his wife are now
millionaires.
But that is not the reason he gives. "As I've said about the flag pin,
I don't want to be perceived as taking sides, there are a lot of
people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of
oppression=E2=80=A6=E2=80=9D
It gets worse.
According to a sacred United States Code (Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec.
171): During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is
displayed, all present except those in uniform are expected to stand
at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart.
But asked about a famous photograph that showed him refusing to place
his hand over his heart when our National Anthem was played, Obama
offered no explanation. That non-explanation may play well in his
elitist circles, but it would play like a stink bomb at Ground Zero in
New York City, at the bombed-out Pentagon, in the fields of
Shanksville, PA, and in the heartland of America =E2=80=93 in fact, in all
t=
he
places that =E2=80=9Cbitter=E2=80=9D people =E2=80=9Ccling to God and
guns=
=E2=80=9D and other things
that Obama clearly holds in contempt.
In spite of overwhelming evidence about the truly dreadful choices
that Democrats offer our country next November =E2=80=93 Hillary the
pathological liar and Barack the Manchurian Candidate incarnate =E2=80=93
Obama has smitten a hungry and thirsty electorate for the
=E2=80=9Chope=E2=
=80=9D and
=E2=80=9Cchange=E2=80=9D he promises.
To the prospect of his presidency, every sane American should say God
forbid!
