You're the one who doesn't get it, rightard.
Those jobs would have gone away anyway.
There is no level of concession that an American worker can make that
will allow them to compete head to head with labor from Mexico or
China, union or not.
Remember, by far the majority of manufacturing jobs that have been
lost have been non-union.
Further, you keep forgetting that the only reason those jobs paid
wages that makes us lament their loss in the first place were the
unions.
Prior to the unions, none of the auto-makers paid anything like middle
class wages, and if a worker became ill or was injured, they were led
out with the friendly advice from management that they not let the
door hit them in the ass on their way out.
Even the management at Toyota, which you reference, is trying to keep
wages low by moving toward wages that are competitive in their local
labor markets. What that means is that if the best job around is
flipping burgers ad McDonald's with no benefits, Toyota aims at
offering a similar wages package.
And where does the difference in wages go?
Directly into the pockets of CEOs and share holders.
The ONLY thing that prevents them from doing so is the threat that
unionization presents.
You, in your rightardedness, are blaming unions when you should be
blaming cor****ate greed.
You ****ers won't be happy until everyone joins the ranks of the
working poor.
