Medical explanation for hard-line conservatism?

It has been suggested more than once that arch-conservatives lack an
"empathy gene," which may be discovered at some point. You can spot
future 'wingers as early as kindergarten, with their me-first, I-got-
mine attitudes.

Speaking of kids, Michael Savage's recent autism comments showed a
profound lack of empathy. He also dismisses global warming as "liberal
hysteria" in that same frame of mind. Anything that upsets a 'winger's
personally sensibility is blamed on whining, conspiracies or junk
science. Their approach to life is simple: If it's not all about MY
needs and it can't make ME money, eff it!

One of the gravest errors of the Far Right is their lack of empathy
for nature. Since most of them are Creationists, they think a
supernatural power is controlling their fate and keeping them alive,
rather than nature itself; the scientific explanation of life. Of
course, they have no problem with science until it questions their
needs as being the center of the Universe.

The current hype about drilling our way out of "high oil
prices" (dwindling supplies. e.g. global Peak Oil) is classic Far
Right logic. They lack the empathy to protect nature from further
destruction and the intelligence to see that oil is a finite resource,
which no amount of protesting will make cheaper to extract. In
summation they are greedy, stupid punks.

It will be interesting to find out someday if selfishness, avarice and
willful ignorance are indeed a medical condition. If so, FARRTS (Far
Right Taker S***) might be cured for the betterment of society and the
natural world. When oil was cheap, nature appeared to forgive their
dream of endless resource takings, but no more. Even if they can't
muster empathy for nature, they'd be wise to show respect.
