Maurice Strong; world federalism

by David Dalton <dalton@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Mar 31, 2004 at 06:18 PM

Will Maurice Strong be involved in the next big environmental
summit after Rio and Kyoto and when is that expected to be?

Also has he influenced China (he has big dealings there)
to produce and use hybrid cars (as well as cutting edge
public transit) much yet?

Some of you may be interested in my thread on
talk.environment entitled
"(Maurice and Hanna) Strong warming; strong warning"

where in Strong warming I was referring to a warming of
the Strongs not to global warming which is fairly subtle/gradual
but in nonlinear system dynamics terms could result in a
sudden unpredictable ****ft soon if we are not careful.

That thread consists of (so far) one initial post
from me and a series of afterthought posts, all in
about an hour, which very well could have just been
one post had I proofread and delayed the post a bit.
But in such cases I think I get some intuitive guidance,
I post something and it comes to mind that uh oh I
should clarify a point rather than wait for questions
though those are always welcome.

As for the world federalism newsgroup this is going
to, I would like to see the UN become a weak form
of world government, so municipal, provincial/state,
national, and world, with division of duties which
for world would include environmental, humanitarian,
negotiation of global standards, military (policing),
and space program. I would like to see all country
militaries folded and there to be a cat's cradle
controlled global peacekeeping force which when
not doing policing would do environmental and humanitarian
work. Those now in country militaries not needed
in that could also do humanitarian and environmental
and space program work. That would save the countries
trillions of dollars over time that some of which
could be piped into humanitarian work and some into
the space program. Military vehicles could be
converted to food trans****t, and nuclear weapons and
the proposed US missile defense system into a comet
and asteroid impact defense ****eld (which is one
reason other species would want us to stick around,
one other being we could bring them to other worlds
someday). The amount of money required to sup****t
one military job (with related equipment and travel)
I think can sup****t three civilian jobs.

But this is going to a Chinese group, and atheist group,
so how would I like to see the world government run
in terms of country voting power. Well I would like
it weighted by country population a lot, and
by country area and coastline length some, and
only a bit by financial contribution to the world
government, so China would be a big voting block
in said world government but the NATO countries
would still be a bit bigger I think, and of course
we can all get along I think. But there should
also be representation of first nations peoples
in such a government, at least an umbrella
representative of all of them and perhaps more
than one such representative.
