Federal Judge Could Face Rare Impeachment Proceedings
Wednesday, June 18, 2008
A New Orleans-based federal judge could face rare impeachment
proceedings, sources told FOX News, now that a judicial group is
referring its investigative re****t to House leader****p.
Judge Thomas ****teous has been accused of various misdeeds. They
include making false statements during his own personal bankruptcy
proceedings, committing fraud related to the debt that landed him in a
bankruptcy quagmire and accepting gifts from attorneys who had cases
pending before him.
****teous was investigated by the Department of Justice and the Fifth
Circuit, which recommended impeachment last year.
A source told FOX News that the Judicial Conference of the United
States concluded Wednesday afternoon that ****teous' actions "may
warrant" impeachment.
The new referral is being made to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The
House Judiciary Committee will have to review the material before
proceeding.
****teous was nominated by President Clinton in 1994.
