He certainly hadn't entertained the idea that he would turn against a war. He served as a commissioned officer, rising to the rank of captain, from June 2000 to November 2004. Brayden was sent to Iraq in May 2003 and spent 14 months there. But soon after arriving, Brayden began to have his doubts about the reasons for being there.
