Hi folks,
I'd like to invite you to use your cryptology, sudoku and gaming skills
in the service of breaking the Inca khipu (chord writing) communication
system.
The Incas and their Andean predecesor cultures formed apparently the
only advanced cultural center to have never developed a traditional (2
dimensional) writing system. However, as even the first Spanish
chroniclers noted, these cultures did seem utilize is a systems of
knotted multicoloted chords to record information.
To this day however, no one has been able to extract more than perhaps
statistical information out of these chord record.
With sudoku craze sweeping much of the world ... why not utilize that
energy in the service of breaking one of the great remaining mysteries
of the ancient world?
Anyway, I've created a blog dedicated to this subject, a blog which now
contains a fairly sizable bibliography as well as a series of tables
that could be useful in the decipherment of these records.
The blog's URL is:
